nVidia Titans still worth the investment?

Cheers setter!! I can't wait to get them in the evolv. Will try and get some decent pic if I can find some lighting! Not used my 7D in a while.

Titans are really for people doing rendering work who don't need professional level driver support and are on a budget. They are actually reasonable value compared to the Quadro cards.

If he's moving to an evolv, will that even hold enough rad space to cool 3 chips whilst maintaining decent noise levels? :p
I might just be pushing my own sensitivities onto others though, being fan noise does my nut....

280 and a 240 should cope and run quiet.

I'm running 2 x 780's and a 4770k, both heavily OC'd on a 480 and it's quiet with decent temps.

Titans don't run much hotter so should be ok

@snips - Will you be drowning them or running on air?

Cheers Rob - my lad wants them back :D

They will be running on air to start with but I have the blocks being delivered with them, so if I wanted to move to water, I could.

I already have a 240 rad, res/pump and some fittings, so it's not impossible.

Evolv is already up and running, my S2 is already for sale. Evolv is a stunning case - well worth it!

I'm the worst for fan noise, either really sensitive or just hate fans :p

Pics (when you get titans in there)? I like the look of the case, whether i move to another mATX is another question :p

I do hope you'll be posting pics and lots of them :D

I guarantee you there will be pics :D

Well I've just started a new job (7 months) and I'm now a perm employee. I've also been added to the Out of Hours rota which is a great little earner. The money from this will be saved for going x99 :D

Curious guys, do you need something like X79/99 to get the most out of a pair of titans, say compared to mainstream chips such as sb, ib or hw?

Margin or error difference truth be told.
HW compared to HW-E it'll be down to the game, some games like the extra cores but not enough to warranty the extra expense X99 brings (in my opinion, and only if gaming was your only reason for change!)

Edit: Like Andy said, the real benefit on X79/99 is more than 2 cards.

That was with TriSli :D

Thats good to know. My 2600k will be just fine. I cant say I wont upgrade but it's less likely to happen knowing this ;)

Supprisingly my wife was OK about mw getting these cards

Can't quite understand the mind set of people who buy flagship cards, and even less the people who buy titans. Why pay 50% more for 10% more performance instead of just going for two of the second highest. I find it unlikely for example, that 2 290X performs 25% better than 2 290, yet it costs that much more. Anything that 2 290X can run, 2 290 will too... so why pay the extra? is the extra 100 firestrike points, or the extra 1 FPS in valley really worth it?

As for titans, why pay 2x the price for a bit more RAM? When you could get a 780Ti for multiple hundreds of pounds less that actually performed better? Blows my mind.
ofc, when they were just released the 780Ti wasn't out but still O_o
Regardless, you got them for a good price, hope you are happy with your purchase! they should be able to stomp 1440p gaming for quite a while.

As already mentioned earlier in the thread, the Titans have been fantastic VFM for those who purchased on release.

Some people have been through three or four cards since it was released and have probably paid double the price of a single Titan, who's the mug in that scenario? lol
