nVidia announce the Titan X at GDC 2015

40% after overclock i can see some gamers buying 1 too yeh
basically bcos there's nothing else to buy

my guess is it wont be that high unless going ultra 4k tho!? then you need a few of them and thats serious shopping money :)

Well the Titan was 40% faster than the 680 so that's about as high as I would bet right now. I'm not talking about either overclocked, I mean both at stock.

So the 690 was still a little bit faster than a Titan. Around 15-20% IIRC.

Blimey.

Just actually thought about that. 40% faster than one 980 and 15% slower than two. That's powerful.....

So yeah hopefully we'll get the 40% that would be awesome.

but this time its like its coming out with the 780 already released? if you get me? or am i wrong on that?

But it's going to be more bandwidth constrained than possibly any card ever ...

Bandwidth constrained + 1000$ price 6GB
Bandwidth constrained + 1000$ price 9GB
Bandwidth constrained + 1000$ price 12GB

You choose but we all know the price will be epic no matter what.

The original Titan was about 70% or 80% faster than a GTX 680.

The Kelper cards scale well on the number of SMX modules present.

Original Titan = 14

GTX 680 = 8

GTX 690 = 16

Titan Black = 15

If you run the above cards at the same clocks on something where there is no CPU bottleneck like Heaven 4, it is very easy to predict in advance what they will score after you know what one of them can manage.

If you have to ask the price you're stupid to buy it, and probably stupid even if it not, if your sole use is gaming.

As of now you can get 2x 295X2 for just over £1k if you know where to look. That will get a bit lower in a few more weeks ... and Vulkan / Mantle will be able to unify memory (dunno about DX12). The Titan's price will never ever be justifiable for gaming.

I think I will find ways to use most of the memory.

I think you will find the extra vram will make very little difference to the TDP. If you check out the 4gb and 8gb 290Xs there is not a big difference in power usage between them.

I'm eyeing up 4K surround, I'll put a dent in it :p

People need to stop throwing the words bandwidth and limited/constrained around as if they have any idea what they're talking about. Bus width is one adjacent factor to many

how much faster than a 780?
isnt that the more sensible compare as the 980 is already out this time?

I think it's each to their own, people will spend their money how they wish. We know the Titan is and never will be vfm or sitting pretty on a price v performance scale. It's marketed for enthusiasts as well remember so at least half the sales will be for gaming more or less.

One of my overclocked Titans matched a pair of stock 680s. I can well imagine the TX being around 30% faster than a 980 and the higher the res, the higher the % increase in favour of the TX.

12GB won't make much difference to 4GB in terms of power draw and I would rather have it than not.

+1

Someone could use a 390X with 4gb of HBM which would have all the bandwidth they could possibly dream of but it would still be slower than a Titan X @2160p as it still only has 4gb.:D

Love these coolers, look great in Black, only thing that spoils it for me, is the green GEFORCE GTX logo, i know Nvidia are Green, but even the Nvidia logo on the back of the card isn't Green (its black), and the TITAN logo is white, would have looked better with the GEGORCE GTX logo white as well.

Not in 90% of games. Few games go over 4GB @4K, save for direct console ports.
