nVidia announce the Titan X at GDC 2015

As I added to my previous post they don't do what he originally stated and just hike the price straight away with loads of old stock left. If Gibbo had anything to hide he definitely wouldn't be posting on here warning people against price hikes if he wanted to maximise profits.

I didnt say at any point theu hike the price straight away, I said the hike always seems to apply to current stock which has already been bought. It doesnt have to be immediately. Weve already discussed the exampled I gave.

I'm of the opinion that a business sells a product at a price it can get away with. If the last dozen units from a cheaper batch sell at a higher markup, then so be it.

I'll remind you of that next time Nvidia/AMD charge a price you are not happy with. :D

Exactly. It is amusing seeing people speak like as if OcUK have no choice but to sell stock purchased at the lower price at a lower price. lol.

OcUK is a business and they will sell it at the maximum profit they are able to get for their stock. It depends on market conditions.

I'll also keep that in mind when Nvidia/AMD price future cards and you're not happy with them :)

It doesn't simply just happen to current stock though, they wait till most if not all of that stock is gone.

The original point was with regards to Titan X pricing being affected by the dollar rate anyway, which still stands true.

If the card doesn't come with a back plate, do you think another manufacturer
will make one for it, to bolt on, or would that be impossible ?

Or would this hinder the card, and make it overheat ?

I dont remember there being any other cards apart from the stock reference coolers from the manufacturers for the last few titan releases so i wouldnt hold my breath

if the metal backplate touches the RAM then no it wont overheat, it'll cool it, but it will cover the back face of the processor .

the whole idea of a custom backplate that's neat and tidy, is that it acts as a Heatsink.........Nvidia missed this, they probably couldn't be bothered to design it.

it would only take an hour on Autocad, basically the underside of the backplate needs blocks hanging down that correspond to the RAM...and anything else that i might have missed

there should be no problem with cooling anyway, this is not a 7990 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I can keep coming in this thread! It's taking too long!
"We want Titans, We want Titans, We want Titans"!!!!
Wish we had more info :(

If you're impatient waiting for TX info after NVIDIA have been kind enough to give us sexy pics, official disclosure of the vram and is due to release within a week, spare a thought for those waiting for the 390X lol!

Would take me some time to save for one of these. I hate being a student!! How do Titan releases work...? Are they limited runs, or just like any other line of GPUs?

By the time you save up there very well may be cards with the chip from the Titan X (albeit slightly cut down) at a cheaper price. With a factory OC they would probably come close to the Titan X or even faster if they release a card like the Kepler 780 Ti.

OH MY, I think my four are in there!

** Please don't hotlink images **

:D

Get a coldzero backplate and whack it on. Some of the custom ones ive seen are stunning.

I have never heard of these guys before, thanks for the info.

I must admit, I do prefer a card with a back plate on it, purely for aesthetic
purposes only.

I know it doesn't make any difference if you don't have a side window
on your case, but I like to see my hard earned money at work :D

If anything like original Titan these will come in at around the £830ish and a week later be selling for £1k because, hey, why not? :D

I'm still undecided whether to even bother. The only game i've played recently has been FF14 (out of membership with no intention on buying more) and Dying Light (completed) so you can probably see why i'm undecided.

If Witcher3 takes my fancy, i might....possibly.

Edit: Thought i would add, i was playing FF14 @1440 on a GTX570 without any problems. Lowest settings and was fairly decent (other than swift being limited to 85hz....nightmare!!!)

a switch to a Titan at 1080p when i'm already ok is definitely daft, but you get caught up in the hype.... the pc will be more stable and responsive with one card only and that's about all i can think of.
