The Budget 2015 – 12:30

Seriously, who would vote for a different party when this one has done so well?

I get voting for the opposition if the current Government has done crap, but they haven't...

You do know what the national debt is don't you?

You do know that they planned to balance the budget by this election, I.e. cut the deficit to zero .

They've doubled the national debt and the deficit is still 90bn at least.

They've made loads of cuts to public services but hardly saved any money.

Let alone almost doubling the tax free allowance which is by far the biggest gain for low paid workers. Labour had no such plans.

Nor did the Tories. DC even said it was unfeasible during the last leader debate.

This has totally been down to the Lib Dems

Are you a joke? You seem to think money comes from no where and spending can just be done with out consequence.
Do you understand difference between short term and long term?

Do you understand in boom times, labour spent £3 to increase the economy by £1 (such logical financial planning there), getting into obscene amounts of debt, so when the recession came we couldn't just borrow our way out if it.
If they had paid if national debt, rather than spending, we could have eased the recession by borrowing.

Of course the deficit has to be dealt with, but the tories always try to raise money from the wrong places.

I agree, I can't understand how anyone can vote tory. I dont know a single person who is better off under this government.

Those that see that the Tory party can do no wrong, ever... It doesn't matter how screwed this country is they'd still vote Tory.

Pretty much everyone I can think of is better off.
Bit of a meh budget but ok overall I guess. Was hoping there would be additional support for new housing construction, rather than additional sticking plasters.

Really. Like to see your crazy ideas. Although I don't agree with this government totally. Most people ideas are economic suicide.
So you don't like them clamping down in evasion and corporation?
You also can't just keep throwing money at NHS, it's just not sustainable.
It's about time we had a discussion about NHS but no one wants to, everyone just wants to put there head in the sand. It's about time we had a two tear health system. NHS for essential and cost proven treatment. Private insurance for everything else.

O_o

This has been the worst government of my lifetime, and probably longer. They've been a disaster on almost every front: economically, socially, in terms of foreign policy, diplomatic relations, on immigration, on the NHS and on education. The list of their failings just goes on and on and on. What's more their plans for the coming parliament just double-down on everything they've done wrong in this one.

I've lived through a few and they are one of the best we've had. Especially considering the economic environment we are exposed to has been the worst since the 30s.

Nonsense, it's not even the worst economic environment in the last 30 years - the '80s were far worse.

Based on previous budgets from this chancellor, I'll wait until tomorrow before passing judgement on this budget. This chancellor is the master of smoke and mirrors, and burying the devil in the detail of his budget which will be poured over tonight by non-Tory politicians and the media.

And? It's this government, which is who gave this budget.

But we're not voting for this 'government' we are voting for the individual parties and currently the Tories are getting all the praise.

So it's a valid point to point out that this wouldn't have happened under a Tory government, and I do despair at the thought of a Tory only government next term, so tbh I'm thankful the polls show a probable coalition again.

Overall I have been pleased with how the Coalition has worked, the Lib Dems definitely softened the Tory edges and I think it's a bit harsh how the Lib Dems have been wiped out when there is a lot of unrecognised good they brought to policies over the last 5 years.

They aren't getting all the praise, in fact in this very thread, several people have said if we could we would want this coalition government back and it's a coalition who just gave this budget.

I work in a school and my partner works for the NHS. Seriously... **** this government.

Too much money taken from areas that need it, not enough taken from the areas (or people, aka the rich) who don't. This world gives out far too much to the man who already has enough....any "benefits" in this budget to the working man are no doubt nothing more than a smoke screen to help the election campaign.

EDIT: albeit, while i say not enough is given to the areas that need it, there's also not enough done by the government to reduce the constant waste of money that goes on in the public sector either. Half the time it seems like no ones cares where the money goes, just that there isn't enough of it...

?!?!?

It's the worst recession in a long time.

Only because of the coalition government's policies - it needn't have been as bad as it was. However I wasn't talking about the fall in GDP I was talking the economic conditions which weren't nearly as bad thanks mainly it has to be said, to Alistair Darling's actions as chancellor in the last few years of the Labour government.

The poor already get stupid large amounts of money on student loans. I had to survive off 4.5k /year which is near impossible nowadays, i'm from a middle class family.

So nothing in the budget to solve housing crisis! Generation rent screwed again, not many renting in South East have £200pm left over to save in this isa thing. We need to massively build housing and introduce rent controls. A Tory budget to buy Tory votes quelle surprise. Anyone who works in or uses public services cannot seriously vote Tory
