Buying multiple to ensure being the centre of attention on a forum is lame and screams desperation but each to their own lol :) If I won the lottery I would be tempted.

I raised the question the other day about how many here would really buy them if they didn't have a forum to show them off on.

I guess it's like anything though, cars, clothes, watches. Very rare people actually need what they offer but if you can afford it then why not :)

Nothing costs very much to make in mass production. As an example? Beats by Dre. Their most expensive set costs $14 to manufacture.

But it's not all about that. You've got to figure in everything else. Staff, shipping costs, advertising, packaging, marketing ETC.

The more you advertise the more the costs spiral. I would imagine about 60% of all Beats sales end up with Dre and all he's done is utter a few words and allow them to stick a photo of him on the box.

I personally collect headphones now. I started last year lol. I've got pretty much all of the Beats range but in replica. Most expensive set were the Pro Detox and I paid £29 for them. They're pretty much absolutely identical to the real ones my mate has.

So that's the difference. Advertising..

What we need are some fake Chinese Titan X... :D

I thought some of the review sites have listed negatives such as heat which can lead to throttling and noise?

And the small improvement in performance for the large increase in price.

And the relatively useless 12GB of RAM (and no, it isn't "future proofing" :))

It's not all been roses, from what I can see, thankfully.
 
Throttling on air is not a bad thing as long as its throttling on boost, which is what appears to be happening with the TX. This is what boost is for, its a variable limit based on power/heat draw.

It also means the card will stretch its legs further when on water, without a custom BIOS.

The Nvidia cooler is excellent but like all coolers, it will get fairly loud on full load however with a single card I have never really found it to be intrusive because I run an open case.

I don't know about you but seeing an OC titan X compete and sometimes beat 980 SLI is impressive, stupid price but great card.

But in many tests it does no better than a pair of 970s - at half the price. :D

And looking at the min framerate and drops in the digital foundry videos released yesterday, well, no, I'm not that impressed, tbh.

EDIT: To quote DF's summary: "With a 25 to 30 per cent increase in performance over the GTX 980 at 1080p and 1440p (shrinking somewhat if you have a factory overclocked card), the premium price-point for the full halo product is going to be even harder to justify than the original Titan's."

No one is buying the TX for lowly 1440p, it's 4K all the way. OC TX is a beast but still does not justify the daft price tag. If this had come in at £600 Nvidia would probably rake in more profit than charging the $999 through pure sales volume.

I didn't notice any dodgy frame drops in DF vids.
 
Ok folks, tell me how a single X (possibly EVGA SC) would perform compared to a couple of 780Ti's please. Using a ROG Swift, so a measly 1440p@144Hz.

I would possibly get 2 anyway, but interested in how it would perform as a single card.
