** TITANX **

No one is buying the TX for lowly 1440p, it's 4K all the way. OC TX is a beast but still does not justify the daft price tag. If this had come in at £600 Nvidia would probably rake in more profit than charging the $999 through pure sales volume.

I didn't notice any dodgy frame drops in DF vids.

Personally id say 2 are needed for 4k, even with my 295x2 being faster than the titan x id still probably want another gpu in there for at least 3 way crossfire.

I wouldn't be surprised if you are correct by the way as the 780 came way before the AMD R9 series and 780 Ti.

Wrt to kelper Titan/780ti anf the 290X, the GK110 had the spare SMX that could be enable to overtake the original Titan more decidedly.

But tbh who knows, maybe they have kept some binned dies that can run higher clocks at lower voltages in reserve. Would it be enough? Surprises make life more interesting.

edit: my reasoning is based on the info that TitanX features all the SMM's enabled.

This lowly TX buyer has bought 2 for 1440P - That's not to say I won't be going 4K or even higher in the near future though and I like to have all angles covered

What I find funny is all this talk about 4k and GPU grunt and so on.

When the original Titan launched the most demanding game available was Crysis 3

With the launch of the Titan X 2 years later the most demanding game is err Crysis 3

What on earth have the game devs been doing for 2 years apart from bloating ex console games to use more VRAM lol.

I think Crysis 3 is still the most demanding on GPU cores.

Maxed at 4K you get about 10fps on a GTX 980.

There are other games that will use more VRAM but I don't think they are as demanding.

What about Far Cry 4? That seems more demanding on my GPUs than Crysis 3, I get less fps in FC4 maxed out than C3.

I have got FC4, when I tried running it maxed it did not seem that demanding.

Having said that the vibration it caused made my monitor fall off the table.:D

If you max out everything including AA you should find it eats 8 GB, but with four TXs, it should be very playable.

Actually I guess it's been a while since I've tried to run Crysis 3 completely maxed out at 1440p, I do seem to remember that I had >60 fps with the AA turned down a bit but when I cranked that up to maximum I got sub 40 fps. Whereas I can get away with Far Cry 4 maxed out at 1440p with my 780s with not too many frame rate drops.

Just tried FC4 on my 290Xs, it was not as quick as my NVidia cards.

Yeah, I guess it's because it's a TWIMTBP title so works a bit better on Nvidia set ups. Although they did unfortunately break shadows in the game for SLI users with the last update, but that can be fixed in the GamerProfile.xml file by setting lighting to ultra high :)

Old news but I thought I would post it anyway.
