I just realised something, NVidia have missed a marketing trick.
They should have called their new card "The Titan Rex" instead of Titan X.
He doesn't work for OCUK![]()
I haven't pre-ordered yet and can't make up my mind.
I will be in the USA at the end of April so could buy Titan X cards there and get them for £600 ish each as I still have USD in my US bank account that I transferred at over 1.65 last June.
But that is only saving me £125 a card if I buy the OcUK brand ones and I could have them in a week without the worry of travelling back with them as I probably couldn't fit all the boxes in hand luggage, but then going away a few weeks later so wouldn't get much time to play with them!
Ahhh decisions!
Can you pick me a caselabs case please???![]()
I know but someone mentioned the 23 then the 25th.
Damn ETA: 31/03/15![]()
I have not missed anything at all.
The argument you are putting forward is illogical. Gamers don't care about DP, all they care about is how well their games run.
Sometimes DP just seems a little excessive.
My point wasn't that gamers care about dual precision, twice I explained if fully and you still don't get it.
Again, I don't care about DP, Nvidia guys do... or purported to. One last time I'll try.
Nvidia guys were excusing the cost of Titan 1, because it wasn't a gamers card, it had professional level DP performance, and wasn't targeted at gamers. ME and many other AMD guys laughed at this, called it overpriced and pointed out DP performance doesn't matter to them.
Titan 2 comes along, same arguments being made, same excuses from Nvidia guys... it's not really aimed at gamers, the price is okay because it has good DP performance and is really a cheap professional card rather than an uber expensive gaming card.
Titan 3 comes along... woeful DP performance.... the excuse for it being expensive that Nvidia guys used for the past couple of years is gone, suddenly DP is completely and utterly irrelevant.
In those points, where did I claim DP performance was useful, or required, or that the card is worse at gaming without it? NO where, despite saying none of those things you managed to take my point as gamers care about DP performance and/or it's a worse card for gaming without DP performance, neither things I came close to saying.
I was highlighting the hypocrisy of those people who used DP as the excuse for Titan 1/2 but deem it entirely irrelevant for Titan 3.
There is two many people banging on about DP for my liking.

@DM,
You're wasting your time, people that want to buy / have bought a TitanX will justify the cost somehow, if it's not DP performance it'll be something else.
The card is 33% faster than a GTX980 (according to anand) but costs twice as much, it's overpriced for sure, but being the fastest single GPU out it'll get away with it.
Fair play to nVidia if they can price it at ~£900 and people still buy it, that's good business.
