The pc posts but whenever I try to get into the bios by hitting DEL when the splash screen is up it just goes pass the splash screen really quickly and doesn't go into the bios?

Did you try holding del down while the computers off then switch it on while keeping it held down, this usually helps me get into the bios if i need to or helps start the comp when sometimes it wont start. Should work with most motherboards as im not on this board (yet).

Hold delete down when starting up or rebooting. Can vouch for this, new build has this board.

1.175v for 4.2GHz with the stock cooler. :p

Sorry to kick an old topic but i'm having the same problem.

I've got a Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H mainboard, and i can't get in the bios.

As soon as i press delete (or any of the other functions, like F9 etc) i just get a black screen, and the computer freezes and has to be reset via the reset button as keyboard also doesn't respond.

I found that a couple of the USB 3.0 ports on the back don't work and read that that could be down to the older versions of the mainboard.

I've never flashed a bios and am still on F7, so i've downloaded version F16 and was hoping to use that Qflash but i can't even seem to enter the bios.

Not sure if it has anything to do with it, but i noticed recently that my bios startup screen has "blown up" size wise.

I looks like this on my monitor for the brief 2 seconds i see it :

Instead of this

Any tips/advice on how to enter the bios without it freezing ?

As soon as i reset the pc starts up fine, and goes straight into windows but obviously that's not what i want.

My basic specs if that's of any use :

Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40 Ghz
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H
16 GB DDR3 duel channel memory
AMD Radeon HD 7900 series, 1024 MB

Try powering off, pulling the battery out, go make a cup of tea, refit the battery and try again.

Random thought, do you have short form factor keyboard?

If i want to access the bios i have to make sure numpad is disabled to use the del/pageup/pagedown/ect functions. Theres even a bios setting to force numpad on/off in the bios at start up for this reason.

Maybe you are in a similar situation with your keyboard?

Doh, using someone elses topic maybe wasn't the best idea, as people are now quoting the topic starter, who has a different setup and/or issue maybe.

I'll start a new topic i think. Sorry guys.

Hey guys after the exact same problem with my board i have found the solution albiet a damn awkward one but has worked for me.

Start off with given you are still with the bios the board was shipped with, it does not like booting bios via the gfx card so remove your gfx card. Now you will find it boots into bios. Download and flash a new bios version for me on this board F22 works perfectly.

Once that is done change gfx priory to pci.

Now reinstall your gfx card.

It may not work for everyone but after a month of testing most methods mentioned on the internet this worked for me.
