Jeremy Clarkson suspended from BBC

The roll eyes are because you intimated that the BBC was too restrictive and 'political' (I assume you meant politically correct) for him anyway, despite the fact that under the BBC he survived at least 6 'un-PC' controversies without even being fined, and reports the DG will say there is a place for his presenting style at the corporation.

I've never understood why things like the apparent "slope", or "catch a *mumble* by the toe" racial slurs were allowed to be aired if they were that offensive. It's not like Top Gear is broadcast live, so if one of the presenters says something they "shouldn't" then why not cut it/reshoot the scene, rather than airing it anyway and then blaming the presenter when people complain?

hahahaaaa chris evans, just imagine it, I can't its too awful.

Apparently he said no but if the pay cheque is big enough I guess he'll see it as another way to fund his Ferrari addiction.

Best thing I can see BBC doing is selling it off as a going concern. Like it or not, Clarkson IS Top Gear and it would be pretty dire without him. I doubt May and Hammond would carry on without him either, I doubt they would be short on presenting offers either.

Slightly OT: OH and I were talking about Top Gear vs Fifth Gear last night, as much as Fifth Gear is more about the cars (Top Gear is more about the cocking about) it doesn't have the "want to watch" factor that Top Gear has.

example: of the current series of Fifth Gear we deleted all bar the one with the i8 and Clio V6 in, whereas of the current series of Top Gear (or any previous) we watch it as it is aired and never miss an episode.

It'll be interesting to see how that changes once this whole mess is settled.

So the report concluded that Clarkson launched 20 minutes of verbal abuse, at the producer, and then physically assaulted him for half a minute. They have to sack him after than. They have no choice and to do otherwise would be wrong as there is nothing that can be offered as mitigating for that. Guess all the fanbois will have to suck it up the bloke went too far, far too far, and now has to go.

Thing is thats the description of every fracas that has happened since 1204

Yea if that does indeed turn out to be true I don't think they have a choice... People are saying like they can just pretend it never happened which they cannot.
If that turns out to be the case BBC won't have killed off Top Gear Clarkson will have... I'm sure he will find a home with a very similar show format though, with or without May and Hammond (who may have a right to feel a bit annoyed that he has potentially messed it up for all of them).

The best Top Gear presenter. ................in the world.

I think you'll see TG with all three presenters changed, then maybe next year the current three will appear on a similar show with one of the commercial channels.

As for Clarkson if he did assault someone he should be sacked it's common sense and common practice in the workplace.

I don't believe the 'producer' is pressing charges though so the police won't be involved.

Andi.

Clearly, if true he went too far...I would say he was a jerk even if it's only half true...however, people do still keep their jobs and a lot more often than some people are trying to suggest, particularly when both of the people involved don't want further action and can work together (not saying that's the case here). I punched a senior manager once and didn't lose my job at the time and that was just a two bit burger flipping job.

As far as the Police, again what some are suggesting...they are not going to be interested in some drunken handbags between work colleagues unless the person assaulted makes a formal complaint.
