Same could be said for the producer who was well enough to drive himself to A&E to get "checked out", no one goes to A&E over a single punch.

That must have been a pretty slow single punch to last 30 seconds. ;)

(Not that I am saying the bloke needed to go to A+E just your logic sucks because a single punch doesn't take 30 seconds, plenty of people drive themselves to A+E and plenty of people have needed A+E after a single punch)

Trouble is, he was already on a final warning for racist comments

That is debatable as he said it but obviously not good enough to make the final cut - till someone leaked it. Along with the slope comment - which until that incident, I didn't know that's a derogatory comment at my ethnicity.

Now that the statement is out with the details not rumours, I think it's fair he got dropped.

Now the million dollar question is, who will be doing TG?

I sincerely hope it's not flipping Chris Evans!

Rubbish. He went too far and he knows it. It is the right call and he is lucky he hasn't been done for assault.

But I guess fan boys are gonna fan boy :)

He may have gone 'too far' but cheesy has a point. See and hear about it all the time in the world of work.

I work in insurance; think admins and technicians get treated the same as producing brokers / underwritiers? Not a chance.

Is it right? Probably not. But when you are making the company a lot of money...

My opinion is if someone in the office did assault someone then of course they could be sacked. Company is justified. But should it mean an automatic sacking? No.

Sad to see him go, it's an end of an era. The BBC is probably quietly partying behind closed doors because they got rid of the last person to rub up the metropolitan elite lovies the wrong way, but after a while they're going to live to regret getting rid of him when money is tighter than they used too.

It's all over, hope the producer never finds a job again.

So if someone if physically assaulted it's their fault? God help any females you ever come into contact with. If your parents had brought you up properly instead of spoiling you rotten you might've stood a chance of being a decent person.

He thought he'd been sacked according to that statement. If I was assaulted in full view and then 'sacked' I'd get it documented too if I had done little wrong.

My opinion, awful attack, not condoned, final warning at most. Producer overreacted majorly.

No the person who threatened members of staff, told one he was sacked and hit over reacted.

From the sounds of it and eyewitnesses say it was a 30 seconds handbags at dawn pushing and pulling match rather than assault.

I think you will find that almost every company in the land will have a clause that says physical attacks on colleagues, customers or the general public qualify as gross misconduct and are therefore grounds for immediate dismissal.

Chris Evans has already said that he wont do it as he doesnt feel hes right for it

I wonder what Hammond and May will do. I suspect their contracts arent signed either.

Chris Evans may well get signed up as a replacement, but they'll need two others as well as I can't see May and Hammond staying. They'll go with Clarkson to make lots of cash with whoever wants to broadcast the next show they do

Am I the only one who thinks this is good news?

Clarkson and his gang continue their show elsewhere while the BBC try to create something in its place.

It's a win-win for me as we will have two similar competing shows now.

I don't doubt that one bit but if someone did that at my place of work they would be out of the door because it's completely unacceptable behaviour and I wouldn't tolerate it. If adults can't resolve differences of opinion by actually talking then really irrespective of their other talents then they really need to take a step backwards and rethink things quite a bit.
