EU: Don’t use Facebook if you want to keep the NSA away from your data

I thought this was common knowledge?

Facebook lets anyone in, there are probably just as many back doors as there are members. Twitter on the otherhand likes to keep things secret although not always successful.

This thread is probably going to turn into a "nothing to hide" argument, so I'll just say that I do value my privacy despite not having anything to hide.

I still don't get the motives of the NSA. They started off investigating threats through the online world but they've gone completely off the charts, apparently trying to collect every scrap of information they can and by any means possible.

I have a few measures to make life a bit harder for them and whoever else is trying to gather my information as I just don't feel comfortable with people seeing what I get up to.

as said if you have nothing to hide what's it matter if they look.
if you put something online then you are happy for someone to look at it surely ?.
if your not happy keep it off the net, its that simple

Really worried now. I just updated my facebook status last night to "having a dump" - now the NSA will have that stored in a database somewhere...

Don't put stuff you don't want people to know on the internet.

Such a ridiculous and narrow-minded statement.

We live in the digital age. It's become virtually impossible not to put sensitive personal information on the Internet at some point.

And this isn't just about Facebook, it's about an entire range of products and services, that a lot of people use for various reasons (business and pleasure).

Not to mention things will only become more digitized over the next 10-20 years

What's funny about this forum is you see the same 3 muppits instantly jump into anything relating to privacy and terrorism/war. Making it all seem like some kind of joke with their nonsensical comments.

Do we have paid trolls or something?

Uh, OK.

I run my business across google apps and use plenty of online services. I am not some Luddite. But things I don't want people to know are carefully protected (within reason).

The kind of information a lot of people put on facebook can just as easily not be put on facebook if they are paranoid and deluded regarding how interesting that information is.

Really don't care what the NSA know about me. Makes absolutely zero difference to my life. Don't understand why people are so bothered by it.

This. Despite having fb locked down as much as possible. Still don't post what I don't want public. The most incrimating stuff they can get off fb is my drunk photos. Don't even have job listed. Makes it to easy for hr/managers yo find you.
