Jeremy Clarkson suspended from BBC

It depends on the hotel and stock :o.

It's a 5 star hotel. Given even short notice such things can be catered for, that's why they have 5 stars. The producer failed to ensure this happened or at the least that everyone understood what was being supplied and any limitations therein, with enough notice that other arrangements could be made if necessary or people like Clarkson were not happy with what was being done, such as eating in a restaurant.

No.

You're clutching at straws, I thought you were far more intelligent than this :).

Producer was not in the wrong, nor did he do anything wrong that warranted disciplinary or a physical and verbal assault.

So all 5 star hotels from now on should have chef and a sirloin on standby just in case Clarkson turns up?

Maybe Alex Polizzi should replace Clarkson, she is top draw when it comes to sorting out hotels.

You have to wonder why Clarkson reported his outburst to the BBC. Did he perhaps have reason to believe that someone else was going to report him or that someone had used a mobile 'phone to record his 30 minute rant and was going to sell the recording to the Daily Mail?

Either way, his behaviour was once again completely unacceptable from an adult in the 21st century and it was entirely appropriate that the BBC decided to dispense with his services. As has been pointed out, Clarkson needs treatment.

It's a sign of the times that people will complain and make claims for anything and it's quite sickening how we got to this point.

Or its a sign of there is more professional way of dealing with issues instead of smacking someone in the face.

You leave that foolish behaviour in the playground, you don't bring it into the work place.

Quick Googling about how hotels and/or TV production works is letting you down. Five stars does not mean the hotel has to produce a restaurant-quality meal on demand at any hour of the day.

What realistic consequence do you expect, for the failure to provide steak and chips at the end of a long days filming? Possibly a verbal warning? If that, I'd say.

The man punched someone and got deservedly sacked. The end :p

He should have bought the steak, a frying pan, kettle and a camping stove. That way if Clarkson still wasn't happy and hit him, he could hit him back with frying pan, then put the kettle on for a cup of tea and used the steak for the swelling.

Be prepared. He is a producer that's his job. :)

Heck after a long days work I'd be pretty peeved to not have a hot meal but I wouldn't hit someone over it. Maybe a quick thought about doing it though.

Anyone who makes a mistake at work should be shot, but just a flesh wound for the first incident.

Unfortunately no.

Apparently it's just a strong yearning for everything to be like it was "back in the day" where you could hit people and everybody did their jobs perfectly, or something. I'm not really sure any more.

No, but it does mean (as I actually stated) that it will and can cater for such if necessary and arrangements are made. The producers job was to ensure those arrangements and that if the hotel couldn't facilitate them, that suitable alternatives were found and everyone informed of any limitations and requirements thereof.

That clearly didn't happen. Ergo, the person responsible for ensuring this failed.

There was food available :).
