BMW 535d sport m

£8.5k?? That seems a lot of money for a 8 year old base spec 535d. Most of what you say is bog standard on the entry level E60 SE. For £8.5k i'd expect professional nav and bluetooth at the very least in an '07 car.

edit. After looking on autotrader it seems i may be wrong!

They command silly (imo) money, I'd personally have gone for a petrol but each to his own.

Be wary of the soft close doors, a family friend had this in his e65 745i (which he owned from new) he had no end of hassle with this feature, namely the sodding doors kept refusing to close!

Heated seats are nice in winter but tbh the novelty soon wears off, I had them in an e36 which had cloth seats, can't say ive missed it even in leather seated cars - I don't wear shorts in winter!

Enjoy it, it looks clean & tidy.

It's the engine I'm paying for in many ways as was the 3.5 I wanted. On autotrader.co.uk the cheapest want currently with my spec and miles is almost 10k i got it for a good price in my opinion but am fully aware could have got a newer insignia or similar for the money

Thanks it ks very clean and tidy. Didn't even no it had soft close door till they closed themselves. Bit gimmicky but quite cool. Novelty really I think. Heated seats would have been nice but reality wouldn't have used them

It is really. Would have preffered other two options Over soft close but think with use of something like Denison will give me the added bits I want for reasonable price. Don't use nav much any way and believe I may be able to use nav disk but unsure on that one

I looked an F10 530i a few months back that was similar - no navigation yet softclose door and an automatic boot..
Quite a lot of people still think they don't need a sat nav and would rather struggle on with a road atlas. I also know a few people who would rather use something like a TomTom instead of inbuilt nav for the cost & ease of updating them.

Tend to use my phone if I go anywhere I don't know but would have preffered it all built in. Hopefully with something like dennison although directions won't be on idrive will be able to get directions through audio but maybe able to get basic nav on disc to work with the car

you are able to retrofit the nav if wanted on these. cost wise it all depends on what you can get hold of the parts for. if you want more information search bimmerfest forums as quite a few members from there have done it

But the issue with not having it on a 5 Series is you end up with the tiny little screen and huge plastic blanks either side.

It's retrofittable, though, for under £1k.

Well, it looks rubbish, but there's far less reason to look at that area without the nav anyway ;) I'd not want the car without it, and to me it's does seem like ridiculous compromise for the saving, but I can see why some people opt for the TomTom option. Updating the maps in my car costs £171 per year, which is just plain annoying considering a £75 TomTom comes with free updates for life.

Good thing you don't need to update the maps every year then.

IIRC you can get the maps from BMW for a little over £20. The you can get an FSC code for your car for a further £50 or something, so you can get them updated for around £70

It is a shame the 1st owner didn't speck it but I bought the car in full knowledge did t have these functions and that the cost to get nav in would be very expensive. Around 1k for retrofit but the amount of history, mileage, condition and it being a one owner out weighed the nav bit for me. As long as I can get basic usb input and Bluetooth I will be more than happy. Think the Denison unit is probably what I need

You don't need to update the maps every year, but it's nice to be able to have them up to date, especially if you're travelling to areas you're unfamiliar with often. Even at £70, it's still expensive compared to a one off payment around that with updates for life that you can move between cars. I can't get maps for that car from BMW either, so I'd be stuck paying £171.

I was overtaken by an F30 3 series a few days ago - the person driving it was using the central screen as a smooth surface for the suction mount for their ancient looking tomtom! I might be wrong but I think even the base spec F30s have navigation....People do weird things
