Holiday in the South West of England

Dawlish Warren on the south coast of Devon. Gives access to most of Devon and south eastern Cornwall. Also perfectly suited for access to Dartmoor. Dartmoor is my second favourite national park after Snowdonia (I live on the edge of the Peak District and that is number three)

Or Combe Martin in North Devon. Lovely quaint village with easy access to Exmoor.

was just going to say the same, July is ages away, seems like he just doesnt want to go abroad

One of our mates was born in South Africa and renewing South African passport has a turnaround time of 4 months, potentially even longer according to the internet. And applying for a British passport costs like £900 so we told him to just not worry about it. :)

thats fair enough, although id have just told him he cant come :p

St Ives is a good shout! Lovely roads, scenery, pubs, food and anything else you might want around that area!

Lyme Regis is one of my favourite places in England, along with all the neighbor seaside towns like sidmouth, beer, charmouth.

Torquay area has some very nice beaches but always very busy.

Dartmouth is my favourite place in the southwest, great harbour and some good places to grab food and drink.

Was down there a couple of years ago working and they put me in this nice cottage overlooking the harbour:)

The captain of the ferry hit the wall on my way over to that pub in the pic.

Also a bad fire in the town whilst i was there, so no ham egg and chips that night :(

Bantham, Bigbury and Challaborough are good beaches, you can also see the "famous" Burgh Island too. These are the beaches of my childhood having grown up in Plymouth.
Salpton is a pretty nice place, there is even a Sherman tank in Torcross at one end and Blackpool sands at the other end is a stunning if small beach.
Paignton is good if you want a proper seaside beach town (with red sand).
Perranporth on the north coast is really popular and big.

You can't really go to the South West without giving Dartmoor a look too.
Calstock is nice with the viaduct crossing the valley and Tamar.

Expect to be stuck in traffic for a while if the weather is any good getting to any of those places.

Do appreciate everyone's replies. Helped us a lot with good/bad places, didn't think about traffic either so advice regarding that has been very useful! Thank you all.
