*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

the phone camera are really good nowadays, im not saying they are better the a slr etc.

i have a dsr 16MP camera and my s5 tbh i find myself just using the s5 because it takes really nice photos and superb 4k videos.

To be fair, a DSLR would murder a phone cam, especially indoors and moving targets.

The cam on this is probably around the quality of a £200 point and shoot. The video cam is a lot better though.

yes hence why i said im not saying phone camera are better the a dslr. but either way sd slot should have been on the s6, what the point in having a high spec cam if your limited on space. 4k videos are massive..

sd cards are a cheap way to add extra space

Guys for those ordering from .de what will be the difference from an actual uk handset? I know the charger will be 2 pronged but will the fast charge feature still work with a uk travel plug adaptor? Will anything else be different? Will the box and stuff be in German and will the apps be different?

People want an sd slot for cheap storage not to constantly swap out cards.

Sorry, I should have quoted Gareth (the post with the red text). I wasn't just making a random statement. :)

having a sd slot would give you the option to have 4 or 5 32 or 64GB cards in your bag then once card is full just change it to a empty one

Had a go on the S6 Edge and S6 today at the Samsung Experience store at Oxford Street.

The S6 Edge wasn't as comfortable to hold in the hand than the conventional S6.

I was impressed by the speed of the device and Touchwiz is fairly light, by accident I was able to reduce the Chrome page to a smaller page by swiping diagonally across it and then when exiting Chrome it left the icon on the home screen - identical to what you can do on the Note 4.

The device is lighter than expected and really well built. The screen as expected is brilliant.

A superb device and those in the hunt for a new Android phone won't go wrong picking this up.

Upgrade time for me soon, is this a significant enough step up from the HTC M7?

Yes if you value the unreal OLED screen and top drawer camera.

Rest will be incremental. And worse loudspeaker obviously.

Really can't wait to get mine delivered. The jump from my S3 will be...

That shock when you hit an icon and it doesn't lag is surprising on touchwiz right. It seems like a solid phone, think its the best Android phone out to date, just waiting on battery life tests by anandtech. If touchwiz wasn't ugly would be difficult to recommend anything else really.

I really don't think it's that bad. With a new launcher, new theme and a nice wallpaper...all is pretty much forgotten. Worth the trade off for the superb hardware and performance.

Don't you have an iPhone 6? With its fugly antenna lines :p

Yeah super fugly, not too horrible on the space grey. I guess its more that Stock 5.1 looks better, which is a tad annoying right. They have made it look worse, some things are simple, like the stock google iconography is just nicer and cleaner. Its improved a lot.

I think I may get the S6, OLED is just too good, and 1gb ram is a huge drawback.

This screen protector looks tempting

What are your views??

Safeguarding the newfound curvature of mobile screens can now be accomplished with our Flex HD screen protector for the Galaxy S6 Edge. The flexible yet durable thermoplastic urethane film offers clear protection that covers the whole screen from edge to edge. Its self-healing characteristic makes it a long-lasting option in preserving the screen's brilliance.

I get ya. Though the S6 is near perfect and nothing else come close for me. Only the Moto X 2015 could tempt me, but they always fail in some area, mostly camera. And I'd want the newer OLED than last gen stuff.

Any reason you need screen protector? Do you work in a rugged environment?

Not at all... It is just something I've always had on my previous phones haha. I thought I wouldn't bother with this one since it wouldn't fit the curve properly... That is until I saw that Spigen do one that will supposedly fit :D

Reason being I think despite it being gorilla glass, it will always pick up small scratches after a little while. My brother's iPhone 6 is an example which he got on release day, I'm fairly sure that has gorilla glass 4 (may be wrong) and he is very careful with that, only puts it in his pocket inside a leather pouch... Yet still the other day he noticed a couple of fine scratches on it

I usually have my phones for the entire length of the contract, so I'm just wondering what it may get like after 2 years of use (albeit careful)

Don't you think a screen protector is worth it then?

No IMHO. For me they lose the feel of the smooth glass which I'd rather have.

Used my S3 for 2 years without a protector and it looks almost 100%. Just a few unnoticeable micro scratches.

Hmm okay

I understand what you're saying, but you don't have that problem (I don't think) with glass screen protectors... But nobody is making curved/flexible glass ones yet so I may end up going without a screen protector still :)
