Top Gear were right about Peugeot drivers.....

I did almost call his insurance at lunch time, but then I remembered that I've got no witnesses, he's got his wife and friend who will probably swear that I hit him, and with French bureaucracy being what it is, I'd have to spend the next few months submitting every document known to man, only for them refuse the payout because an attestation doesn't have the correct stamp on it, or something equally ridiculous.

I was tempted to key the **** out of his car, but he either wouldn't notice, or would notice and go straight to the police, who would immediately know it was me (small town and all that). And, whilst he was a dick, he probably didn't deserve that sort of retribution.

The Peugeot 508 is actually a relatively prestigious car around these parts: in my town there's a Cayenne and a couple of Audis but almost everyone else drives knackered old Renault 5s and Peugeot 206s, regardless of how wealthy they are. It's only in the touristy areas like St Tropez where you see interesting/exotic stuff.

I'd be enormously irritated but I'm not sure I'd believe they represented everything wrong with the world

Actually people failing to take responsibility for their actions could easily be seen to be one of the major things wrong in the world. From the milk going off because you have forgotten to put the milk back in the fridge causing an argument because no one would own up to who did it, to world politics and leaders refusing to admit their shortcomings causing resentment by the population.

A lot of the time all it would take is someone to put their hands up, saying "I'm really sorry, I shouldn't have done that - I was in the wrong" and it would be over with. As this thread demonstrates perfectly.

OP - as you were ;)

Its part of the driving test in France, if there is no space you have to push the cars out of the way to make one.

He probably thought you were a very strange foreign man ranting with a camera lol

Was thinking exactly the same thing! Well put.

TBH in France I expect everyone to park using my car as a parking sensor. My Octavia got rear ended and a massive door ding in the two weeks I was last over there.

Poop deck post of century.

I've had a woman do this right infront of me, used my car to know she'd gone back enough, luckily she hit the license plate and didn't do any damage but she immediately denied it and tried to walk off, when I shouted at her to get back did she eventually apologize... I kicked her rear quarter panel :) I don't feel bad about it.

If I'd just hit someone's car the last thing I would do is walk off and leave them alone with my car, especially if you're going to aggravate them by denying it, who knows what a grumpy person may do as revenge!

While I wouldn't go kicking someone's car, it would be tempting to let the air out of a couple of tyres to inconvenience them without causing any damage.

There's only one thing wrong with France, and that's it's full of the French.

And is he doing a Nazi salute or something?

That is the rule in Paris.
Scrapes snd bumps are fully accepted, a very French attitude, thus everyone drives bangers.
