looking for new car Mini cooper v ds3 v audi a1

A BMW 1 series would be far more expensive then an A1/DS3/Mini surely?

No. A1's are massively overpriced for the spec. Mini's aren't cheap either. Plus there's always the used option.

Not that I would bother with any of them for a first time driver though tbh. I'd get something used and cheap.

What suggestions do you guys have. Needs to be similar size and power to a mini cooper but can be anything corsage fiesta also

Let me know what you guys think

The DS3 isn't one series size at all, go sit in one.

They're decent enough little cars but tbh aren't on the same perceived quality scale as the others.

I'm not a fan of the A1 at all, but it would be between this or the mini for me

There's 6 inches length extra in a one series interior. The width is nigh on the same.
They're hardly miles apart are they?

I know I am biased but I honestly think the A1 is the best car in its segment with the new Mini perhaps on par (different pros/cons though).

This! You can get a pretty new Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S for less than £10k with warranty.

Funnily enough I love the interior and hate the exterior. :p

Do you still have that polo? I remember when you wanted to sell it and upgrade to something newer/faster :p

Yes it is still here. :p

Now though it is all the same colour, has genuine VW alloys, new tyres, it had a full service the other day, and it has a load of interior parts from an SE model to tart it up a bit. :D

It is still as slow as ever, but it is easier to live with now. ;)

Still hoping to upgrade this year.

Well, I'm still looking for a car... I've set my mind on Honda Civic 1.6 Sport after test driving one. They sell quickly so its hard to get one, but I'm going to an auction next week and hopefully I'll win one of them as there are 2 or 3 listed up. :)

BTW For what sort of upgrade are you hoping?

I have my heart set on a Polo 9N3 GTI. Will be looking for a nice low mileage 3dr example in white, preferably with heated leather and climatronic climate control, but will settle for heated cloth sport seats. :)

Pretty much exactly like this one, but with climate rather than A/C http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif.../cars/model/polo/radius/1500/page/3?logcode=p

Though I do occasionally browse Clio 197's, Fiesta ST's and a few other things including the older Polo 6N2 GTI

Still have time to change my mind though, and I plan on test driving a few bigger cars to see how I get on and see if I like the extra size before making a final decision. I like the chuckability and ease of town driving which comes with owning a small car.

Go for the A1 if you can in Sport (best spec without the harshness of the S-line Suspension) and any Petrol (not diesel)

it needs to be a small car, the driver is small and a fist time driver (not driven for long)

so anthing the size of mini DS3 is about tight

I have thought about the fiesta - 208 - corsa

but i have a few issues with them, one the power, badge, cheap inside and price.

Im thinking something with something with similar power as the mini cooper so i can have fun with it also.
All new cars quality is pretty similiar, its not like back in early 00's. Have you actually sat in a Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S? They're fun to drive, I haven't driven the new one, but I have the square uglish one with tiny wheels, MK6?

If I was looking for a first car (wait a sec, I am but not this budget :p) I would go for the Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S, but I reckon you want to buy Audi A1 and just made this thread to see what people will tell you knowing what you want. :)

If VW Polo is cheaper than A1 brand new than go for it, as its VAG group anyway so everything is the same why pay for the badge and uglier looks? :p

You can also have a look at Seat Ibiza, its under VAG group just like Audi, VW etc.

Don't buy a French car, I personally don't like anything above 6n/2. But I do like the 6R's, especially the GTi :D

See, my favourite iteration of Polo is the 9N, and the 9N3 comes second. I absolutely adore how they look. I'm not sure what it is about them... Especially in Azurblau with colour matched rub strips. :p

I would love a 6R BlueGT 150 or new 2015 Polo 1.8TFSI GTI, with a 6spd manual box though.
