HP Stream 7

Do we have a "Windows 8 Modern Apps" or a "Cool things to do wth Windows 8" thread anywhere?

I've unexpectedly used it to learn a lot about UEFI and Windows Recovery lately :p. but now I'm running out of things to do with it.

There aren't really, even the apps that do exist aren't very good.

So how are people getting on with their Stream 7's? Anyone purchase the HP/Microsoft case?

I'm enjoying mine, got to find a browser i like, as chrome seems to use a lot of resources and i don't like how IE looks.

Has anyone done anything to optimize the tablet?

Thanks,

James.

UGH, using a non touch optimised browser on a screen that size, never mind how much Chrome would eat up all the ram just from being open.!?

Dads loving his, had a play about, its far more capable that I thought it would be to be honest.

Honestly its nowhere near as bad as you must think it is. The buttons are all pressable, and it's rare that I hit the wrong thing.

Mines got a 64GB Samsung microSDXC card in and it works fine. Although I've not found much use for it yet as I cant seem to find a way to install apps to it?

Just ordered a Kingston 64Gb MicroSDXC card! I'm gonna stick music and movies on mine :)

got a cheap bright orange cover for mine (matches my Lumia 830) if its crap its only £4 lost! :D

I've got bored of mine already. The lack of touch designed apps for things like Hangouts and YouTube means I keep reverting back to just using my phone, and then not picking the stream up again. In the 7" tablet space I think Android and iOS are far better suited.

Used the Office 365 subscription to put Office on my PC, and I think I will use OneDrive, so at the very least it was a cheap way to get those.

Teeny revival...

anyone manage to get windows 10 insider preview working on this yet??? I believe 10130 has just been released, hot on the heels of 10122... I'm dubious to load it up just yet with all the previous problems on the Stream.

On a side note Office 2016 preview, via the Office 365 sub, works like a charm!! :)

I failed a couple of times but managed to get it working the 3rd time, only to find that W10 has a really poor touch interface at the moment.

Rebuilt mine today in preparation for the Windows 10 upgrade.

I didn't have to wait for the update to install to ask me to Reserve my Win10 copy, it asked me during the setup process!! :D

Also didn't put Chrome back on it (I'm liking Edge at the mo, so looking forward to getting it on here!!) and it's like a whole new faster machine!!! Chrome really is a hog!!!
