***Haswell -E Owners Thread***

5820k @4.5ghz here. Easiest overclock ever. Set vcore to 1.3 and upped the multiplier. Job done. Plays BF4 for hours, max temp in the low 50s.
Gets to mid-70s in stress tests (but who cares about them, I'm more interested in day-to-day stability ;) )
H105 cooler btw.
 
As above, 5820k @4.5Ghz, although its still the cpu lottery...

1st chip was very poor, managed to achieve 4.2Ghz (returned to Intel).
2nd chip, excellent, 4.5Ghz no hassle at all.

Ahh Right, well thats the first time its happened since i put it together around the beginning of December, so if it happens again, or i get any other problems, ill try that with the memory.

You could at same time flash the new X99-A BIOS 1402 to improve system stability.

I do not no how true that statement is but 4.5 should be ok for 5820 around 1.3v area.

This sounds like rubbish. My 5820 sits at 4.5GHz at 1.275V
 
I'm only using the overclocking pre-templates within the BIOS but my 5930K refuses to overclock at all - It just freezes the system, normally when logging into windows 8.1.

Weird thing is it will turbo up to 3.6 and the system is rock solid, I guess I'm going to have to manually start playing with the settings to get it to 4+

I'll do it after I've completed my new waterloop.

My previous cpu was just a poor overclocker, so after contacting Intel I had a brand new one in my hands in just 4 days...

Mind you, it can only be exchanged once, so its a roll of the dice, but in my case I really had nothing to lose.
 
I've cocked up a bit. Got a half built Haswell-E rig that is just minus processor and cooling. Went for it as my own rig is getting a bit tired and I saw a decent deal on OCUK for X99 mobo + 16GB DDR4 and went for it as a ****ed late night purchase.

So, as it is, i've got all the kit set up ready to go in a NZXT H440 then saw the silly price of the available processors vs normal 1150 i7's.

So, I cant be arsed reading all the threads on it, am I best going for the 5820K or is the 5930K proving much better? Not bothered spending a bit extra if I'm actually getting the money's worth. Will be mainly Workstation use, video rendering, database & development (plus gaming, but no SLI planned).

And also, the case will accept a big rad but i'm liking the look of the compact single 140mm Corsair H90 - I'll be overclocking to a speedy-as-I-can yet stable level, will the double rad equivalents make THAT much of a difference?

Only real difference (not including the minimal speed bump) is the pci-e lanes, 40 on the 5930kk and 28 on the 5820k. A single graphics card will use 16 lanes, so if you are looking to sli/cf later the 5930k will allow two full x16 lanes where as the 5820 will have to drop to x8x8x. I chose the 5930k as i'm looking into pci-e/m2 ssd's and may sli in the future, if you are not interested in either of those save some maoney and get the 5820k.
 
Just ordered my 5960X with the X99 Duluxe. Shame OCUK don't have any of the watercooling stuff I need to put it all together though. No eta either :(. Will have to wait a few weeks.

5820k here, installed this morning and currently on 4.4 @ 1.117 volts. I think I am onto a winner here.

What validation are we using here to get on the owners list and valid OC's.

Can you pass an 8 hour max memory realbench stress test like that ?
