I'm liking it

I've wanted a beard for so long, need tips! I heard lots of protein helps? Sounds like broscience to me but could work.
Mustard, lots and lots of mustard.
Strong Britsh stuff, rubbed liberally on your downstairs regions helps the follicles to grown on your face. Proven Science yo!
Lets establish some facts.
Mustard isn't a wonder drug to make hair grow, it takes weeks for results. About 4 applications per month will stimulate it enough.
There isn't a way to slow it down. If you stop using mustard, nothing changes. The mustard just gives it a quick boost. I'm surprised at how many people think it's a wind up, it's not because it's mustard, its just one of the chemicals in the mustard. I'm sure there are products available that contain the same chemical, but you'll pay over the odds for them. At least the chemical is in something relatively tame, like mustard, rather than urine or something.
So whats with using balm or wax or whatever for your beard?
So what tips can I get for keeping a beard but keeping it soft? I got one of those amusing old fashioned photo meme things from said lady asking to touch my beard. I'm sure you guys will have seen it.
I shaved my beard off yesterday and I'm actually regretting it. I keep going to stroke the chin and finding nothing there.
4 months of growth gone in a rash decision.
Munky you should shave your head, will look better with a grown out beard, not a good look since the hair is so fine on top.
So what do you guys use to trim your beards? (NEVER!)
I used to have an istubble but I want to grow it more than it will allow.
