** BEATS BY DR DRE - AVAILABLE NOW **

high quality audio wares.

Aaaaand the joke thread is that way! ->

My GF bought a pair of these despite my protestations...

Suffice to say my £25 Creative Fatality headset (which is by no means high-end) is more comfortable and has far superior sound quality...

Are Beats actually that bad, in terms of price/performance compared with the market, or are people being snobby?

(genuine question - I've no idea)

both. I remember using the beats solo a few years ago which are the cheaper model but still over £100. I thought they were renowned for their bass but my £30 earphones had better bass and sound overall.

Then again they could have improved their sound by now but I doubt it's that special. For the price you're better off going with some proper headphones, unless you're after a fashion gimmick.

no. after actually using some, they aren't to my personal taste in terms of the sound they produce.
in fact, they made some of my music just sound a bit odd.

but a lot of what you read is just people being snobby.

This is why I love OcUK. Thank you for being honest and not sounding like a salesman, it really sets this place apart from most :).

These Beats headphones are all only worth about 1/3 the asking price. You are literally just paying for the branding. If that's your thing then no problem I suppose.

it really isnt. Ive used the HS800 and these new beats. the beats are better than hs800s.

See that's where you're going wrong...

Honesty and Sales don't generally go well together ;)

honesty is important. but having Dre Beats is importanter

I think they have come a fair way. I used the first lot of beats for about a day when they were first out as a friend let me use theirs, these are much better than I remember them being which you would expect given the time they have been out.

Agreed, they're not bad as such, but IMO they're worth £50-60 max, rather than the £200+ RRP

They would sold more if they had Apple and Dr.Dre join forces to make best Beats your Iphone can use.

SOLD OUT INSTANT :D

Personally, the Beats hurt my ears after wearing them for more than ~30 mins, whereas I've worn the Creatives for hours on end with no issues.

They also have better midrange/bass than the Beats which sound very flat.

However, the Beats my GF has are the Studio Noise-Cancelling ones, not the Solo in this thread, so maybe these ones are better?

Straight out of Compton

Yes I know it's not Andre Romelle Young

The product may well be Straight Outta Compton but the prices are Straight Out Of Knightsbridge old bean.

but a lot of what you read is just people being snobby.

I think people have a reason to be though, although I don't consider it snobby, just they actually understand that the price/performance is a joke - especially considering how big the profit margin is one these things, costing less than a pub meal for two to make, as someone already said.

They aren't bad per se, but for the cost they really should deliver much more of a product as their competitors easily outdo them with.
