Possibly busted my credit rating?

Contracts are cheaper though, I effectively pay less than £7 a month for my Note 4 airtime once the cost of a nearly £600 phone spread over 24months is taken into account, and I get a return on the capital that would have gone towards the cost of the phone in the meanwhile.

They are cheaper if for some reason you need a new handset.

£10 a month sim only here. Rocking my trusty iphone 4 (which I can't find a reason to upgrade from).

I took out a 24 month iPhone 4 contract on 3 network back in October 2011 for £30 a month. At the end of the 24 months I downgraded to a 1 month rolling sim only contract with 3 for £12.90 a month and I still have it now.

I just don't see the appeal anymore of locking myself into 24 months paying £40+ for the latest phones. Maybe if they brought back 12 month contracts then I might consider it.

A lot of people are catching on to this, if you're paying £35 or more monthly then just buying a phone outright and do a rolling sim you can save yourself over £200 over a 24 month period

Oddly I initially got credit rejected for my Everything Everywhere contract which I found hilarious, never before have I been rejected for credit.

I asked to speak to what ever management I could to see what the issue was. After about 15 minutes of talking with a "manager", where I went through my Experian credit history (I provided as I subscribe) and my employment details, it was overridden and approved.

I wanted EE for 4G and an offer they were running :-) was probably more likely approved on that basis!

I just applied at 02 for HTC One M9, 49 quid a month, 20gig 4G data, unlimited mins/texts, free Fitbit wrist band, 30% airtime discount.

Accepted, all ordered :)

Will get 100 quid for my Galaxy Note 3 with cracked screen at Currys!

What's the handset cost and airtime plan cost individually? (Airtime before and after discount that is) - is it £49p/m after discount? Even though you've got a **** ton of data, that's still pretty steep IMO, nobody needs 20GB data for their phone, except typically 18yo girls who have sooooooo much goss, OMG! lol

Also I hate it when the networks phone you up at the end of the 24 month period offering you a 'free' upgrade. Hardly free if you are then having to pay the same or even more again each month. If it was really free then your price plan should be reduced to the prices of the 1 month rolling contracts.

When I got my phone from Virgin a few years back I made a joke to the during the credit check process along the lines of, "Oh, I hope it doesn't reject me, etc". The chap told me that his older brother is a dentist with no bad credit against his name but can't get a phone contract from Virgin.

Also, £6pm contract on a second-hand iPhone 4s. Yes, I'm a cheapskate!)

Thanks to this thread i signed up to Noddle for a free credit check!

4/5 - I'm a happy chap, Although i have never had credit... Apart from My Phone and Car insureance.

Nothing wrong with that - what mins/texts/data do you get? I personally would say the 4s is the best iPhone there is, still, and I have a 5s. Easily the most robust, scratch-resistant, and my battery actually always did me proud with my iPhone 4 8GB model as well! No idea how I managed; got a 32GB now and it's nearly always full o_o bloody Spotify Premium (for free :p) allowing me to locally store tracks!

I don't bother with credit checkers - each time you check it it actually puts a small report on your 'file' potentially buggering it up. I'm (only just) 23, had my first credit card at 20 where I had a limit of £4k... most people struggle to get £500 limits for not just their first so I know mine's all well and good and in good standing, just like my VAC status on Steam :p

Those checks are only viewable by you. Any finance co doing a credit check on you won't see those.

Was about to echo what LeeUK said, since being discharged from bankruptcy 8 years ago i've checked the main 3 reports companies on and off through the year each year. Checking your own report has no bearing whatsoever on your actual credit rating.

Ignore any scores, they mean nothing in the grand scheme of applying for credit, as each place you apply to will have different criteria for getting accepted.

People who spend £54pm on a mobile phone are probably the same people with top Sky/Virgin packages also. No wonder we are a nation of debt/skint.

20GB??

Thats nothing.

In Febuary i used 85GB.

I download Torrents, Films, netflix, tether my laptop and pc to it when at work.

My Phone is used as an Access Point mainly. I LOVE Three for their all you can eat data plan.

I pay £45 Pm for my Note 4.

People on here saying thats too much to pay per month?

45 x 24 = 1080.
The Phone costs £600
Which leaves £480 being paid to Three for 2 years network service.

That's £20 a month to use their service.
That's around the same as a Sim only All you can eat plan is... SO i don't see the problem with this sort of contract.

Asking on a forum if your credit rating is bad is probably enough to get you a bad credit rating these days.

Obviously I'm joking, but it's heading that way.

P.s. my credit rating is fantastic

Well rather than starting a new thread I'd just add to this.

So looks like my credit rating is busted, Noddle says 2-5 and Equifax has it as ok or something.

So looking at my rating the carphone warehouse checks don't seem to be on there.

I'm not on the electoral role at all, could that be what it is?

I've had a NW CC, paid that off in full with an MBNA balance transfer, I've now paid that off in full and taken a further 3100 out into my account so 12 months interest free. So hoping that may help to relight my credit rating.

I have a settle Halifax account, card cash, that shouldn't cause an issue.

Never ever missed a D/D, nothing EVER gone unpaid.

Not sure what it is, no links of credit rating to anyone else so I suppose my flatmate couldn't have an influence on it.

Baffled really, I want go be able to buy things interest free or get more credit cards, I'm pretty much staying away from any new credit or anything that wants credit checks for the time being now.

The electoral roll matters a LOT!

Most credit cards and the like will reject you instantly if you're not on the electoral roll. They want unmitigated proof you live where you say you do, and online applications will always go by the electoral roll entry on your credit report. So get registered.

As for the searches, they can impact your record if there are a lot in a small amount of time, but searches only affect your score for 6 months. After that they have no bearing.

That's a lot for a note 4, I only pay £28 pm.
