Hello,

Just looked at the GTA 5 PC OP that videos with swearing is prohibited!

I have never understood this statement!

We can post videos of beating up and murdering men and women but swearing is not allowed!

Where does this way of thinking originate from? Is it a UK/US thing?

Because swearing isn't ''family friendly'' apparantly. //BBC mode

But probably: swearing isn't very ''polite'' if you know what I mean, the mods probably don't want this forum to give the impression of being populated by a bunch of rude chavs or a rabble of uncivilized peasants!

While posting vids of murdering/gore etc. is generally considered normal for game fans!

Personally I hate political correctness, but you wouldn't swear with your boss around in a meeting or when having a formal discussion with someone ? It's simply a bit uncivilized. ( I have no problem admitting I'm a peasant sometimes and love to swear, hate formal speaking and prefer informal banter, I adore ''colourful'' metaphors ). People who swear more often come over as more ''human'' imho and less as a stuck up or prude arse imo :), trust em more/relate to em more. No need for nice words just get to the bloody point and be direct :).

This is an open forum, you can lurk without registering.

Children may watch the video, or a family sitting down for tea may decided to watch a GTAV video and not realise the horrors inside! Not the murdering the flagrant use of the naughty words.

I may not agree with the rule, but none the less it is a forum rule.

I put it in the OP to save people from getting suspended or banned etc

How is adding extra words getting to the point and being more direct?
It communicates emotion.

In person you can use non-verbal communication or tone for that, on forums, you can't ( unless you use emoji).

''He's a ****ing moron''
''He's a moron''

Top statement says so much more, 2nd statement comes over as more passive/meh don't care.

What I meant before is ( for example in politics) ''Studies have showed that a lot of people from XYZ descent are prone to causing problems and integration into our society is often problematical'' should better be worded ''Studies have showed that a majority of people from XYZ are a rabble of narrow minded bigots unwilling to adjust to our society''.

Or ''I strongly oppose that point of view, have you thought that through'' can better be said as ''You're an ****ing imbecile''. Simply gets the message across better.

Or finally, ''you got done'' ''you've been had'' communicates less than ''you've taken a **** up your ***''...

I'll sum that up with, lol.. Because I love being an indirect inhumane stuck up arse..

See you don't have to swear to have fun ;)

I only don't swear around people out of politeness/conforming to the social norms, around everyone I know well, even one of my bosses at a job I've worked for nearly 7 years now, I just say what comes to mind. I try not to be offensive around some ( eg. in Dutch we swear with diseases), and I wouldn't swear with cancer around people who potentially had or know someone with it out of respect for them, or around kids, but I have no problem using it otherwise with mates/in my own social circles or to family, if they are offended by that then they are not worth keeping a relationship/keeping in contact with and can **** off, imho.

I personally feel swearing adds nothing and is just unnecessary. If you cannot make your point without insulting someone or swearing at them then perhaps you should think about making your point differently?

I actually find it quite unpleasant hearing a bunch of people ****** and blinding every 5 minutes, certainly in public, even more so around children.

The way I see it it's pointless banning words due to the way people use them anything can be used as an insult if it's used out of context I've actually being experimenting to see if I can get a sensible word banned by using it in place of traditional insults my favorite's so far are Beverage and Pringle!

I can understand that, sometimes people deserve to be insulted though. There is no problem letting some people know you think the world will be better off without them imho, knock them down from their moral high horse down into the real world where their ideas aren't ''better for the common good'' but are actually hurting peoples ideals/freedom.

I personally really, really detest authoritarianism and left wing politics ( being a libertarian myself), to the point that I think socialists or green eco hippies should bloody well know they aren't improving the world for everyone(for the greater good) but are actually an annoying pest to some and directly affect someone's happiness ( And what's the point of life if not to live happily ?). I just really hate statements like ''better for everyone'' ''everyone is equal''. People should have equal rights, but a thieving **** is definitely less of a useful person than a teacher or doctor to give an extreme example and deserves to be knocked down.

It ultimately originates from the religious nut-jobs, moralising and attempting to control what we see and consume in our brains.

Common sense and logic has no place in the decision making process.
