Farage's head will explode.

Not really, despite the rather successful establishment narrative that UKIP are a party of racists and xenophobes, Farage has been vocal about criticising the UK's record on taking in Syrian refugees and especially Christians facing persecution by jihadis around the globe.

Farage's head will explode.

I'm no fan of Farage but do you honestly believe he is an Enoch Powell type racist?

Farage has said many times that his stance on immigration is more ethical because he thinks a Pakistani Doctor should have the same right to come to this country as a Polish one. Currently, our system says someone from Asia must meet certain criteria to come here whereas a white European can come and go willy-nilly, so which policy is more racist?

If we pulled out of the EU, we could balance out our immigration sources more fairly and people from outside of the EU would have a better chance of coming here legally.

I think you'd be surprised if you actually knew UKIP's immigration policy instead of getting sucked into the 'meh racists!' chant from the screaming union paid anti-democracy lefties

I'd be surprised that you took it seriously, but it's a comment about your glorious leader, so I'm not.

Not at all.

E: Fair enough - tongue in cheek comments are easy to appropriate over the internet and in the current climate probably not too wise.

You've simply made it sound racist to suit your agenda. The immigration policy does not care if its an Asian, Indian, American and certainly not a white European, at all. But then you know that.

No, it's racist. Because it discriminates based on where you were born, we have a shortage of GP in the UK and it's only going to get worse, there are loads of Indian and Pakistani doctors that want to come over but can't and there's not enough doctors from the EU coming to the UK. It's a farce.

The funny thing about this, is that Pakistan is a member of the Commonwealth, and Poland isn't lol.

Yes, thank you. Farage himself said many times he thinks it's unfair that people from the Commonwealth are restricted while people from the EU are not.

Sigh you know exactly what I'm talking about. He specifically used Asian and white European to be antagonistic.

It's a point worth debating, but if you're anti EU immigration without control, are you pro Commonwealth immigration without control?

And UKIP plans to make it easier for doctors to come over from India and Pakistan... by limiting the number of skilled immigrants to 50,000 per year.

Are you saying the UK needs 50,000 new doctors a year?
The UK should go with the USA system. That will keep the crap out.

I have no problem with qualified doctors, GP's, Nurses, lawyers, scientists and other skilled workers, i highly highly doubt that would be more than 50K per year. 50K is a heck of a lot of skill labor!

It may be racist, but it would actually solve a fairly large problem of doctor shortages in the countries that put a lot of effort into training them, same as for nurses and other skilled migrants who come to the UK. Brain drain in these sectors rarely creates a feedback loop and deprives developing countries of urgently needed skills capacity.

The limit is 50,000 total, not 50,000 doctors. I am saying that imposing a hard limit is stupid because it may turn out that we do actually need more than that.

Well thank god UKIP doesn't have a hard limit then, the media was a big deal about that in the last couple of weeks, you must have been under a rock!

Or I may have just read the UKIP manifesto more closely than you.

Because the other parties have failed to control immigration, UKIP will limit highly-skilled work visas to 50,000 per annum, including those from the EU, and apply a moratorium to unskilled and low-skilled labour over the course of the next parliament
