***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

Finally got my copy yesterday!

Have to hand it to Rockstar they have done a fantastic job, Surround support is amazing and it runs so smooth on my GTX690 at 5960x1080. No tweaking (apart from the safe zone for hud) and I was up and running, driving around (into things) and having a laugh.

I read a trick to get more performance out by turning off in task man the gta launcher after the game was on. It might have worked but now im getting crashes.

I noticed this. People on Reddit were saying it helped them with CPU usage, but I attempted the trick despite the game running smoothly already.

Killing gtavlauncher.exe resulted in 3 CTDs within an hour, but leaving it running I was able to go an hour+ before I gracefully exited the game.

You've missed a bit of money making... (i think)

http://uk.ign.com/wikis/gta-5/Assassination_Investor

I did this on my play though on the 360 and by the end of it I had billions per character. :D

I've just done the smokes one, I invested 200k, collected the money, then the game crashed shortly after it saved, went back in and I had lost the investment :(

I'll throw everything I have at the next missions then.

Is the money shared across the characters? Seems silly having Franklin sweating bills but the other 2 scratching for pennies.

Should this game be maxing out my 7990?

At the moment it has 60-90% usage

(I have the latest drivers 15.4)

I'm using 3.2gb VRAM on my 290x with max settings except high shadows, high somthing else, no msaa, no shadow msaa, no DOF (cos I hate it)

So you might have to turn somthing down to stay in your 3gb VRAM buffer.

not shared, you should switch to each character and invest all their money in the stocks.

My game runs really smooth, but when I switch from controller to keyboard and mouse the first 20 seconds after changing is really laggy especially if I go from 3rd person controller to 1st person M/K. Anyone else find this?

Good laughs tonight.

Dipped my toe in the world of heists, having no idea what I was doing was interesting. They take ages, loads of prep work. Think I need to spend a full day doing them as it was a little rushed.

Being chased by 2 jets in a cessna was interesting, then the best bit of the night, jumping out of the plane with no team lives left to hear Hazard go "I don't know how to open my parachute...sorry chaps" splat.

Brilliant fun! Think I'm just going to stick to normal MP stuff until I can rank up enough to buy decent armour etc. would have been much easier, me and Hazard are both low ranks and it was a struggle not getting killed!

I'll try tempting you again tonight we can do it as long as Hazard checks his key bindings :D

Has anyone found a section of the map, maybe in the city, that has big impacts on the fps? If so, I would like to visit there and try find the best settings for the game. I normally get around 55-60 fps but this one area I was in (after the house incident and you first contact larry through the phone). You are sitting on a wall and the area, while not looking powerhungry. Was making my game run at 30fps.

Maybe try and find a mountainy area with trees, grass etc and have a run around. I have seen a few people mention about fps drops in areas like that.

Heists are great fun, did two missions on the prison break one with some pagan folk last night as a little level 5 guy with only freebie weapons. We died a ton as the difficulty was cranked up and erm I kept dying lol

It's great having a group that doesn't give a damn and is just in it for a laugh :)

So... watching this game on PS4 and then comparing it to the PC version...

It reminds me of the days when ports from console to ports and vice versa were noticeably difference....

This kinda equates to an Amiga game compared to a NES or Master System equivalent :D

ive not fiddled with any graphic settings yet, runs nicely on my 7950 with default settings though

also i bought an OcUK tattoo thismorning

The only areas I'm seeing significant slowdowns are at a couple of the big traffic junctions when driving, everywhere else seems fine but massive slowdowns at a couple of them.
