***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

Was going to start this download tonight. Few quick questions if someone would...

Current best/cheapest place to buy?

Is a 7870 going to see a graphical increase over the PS3 version?

Is it worth buying if I've already played on the PS3?

Nuveem or any questionable retailer a such , some seem to have a lot more joy than others .

A 7870 will run at an equivalent graphical fidelity to the ps4 and depending on your CPU with possibly a much higher framerate , but you can tinker to find what best settings are for you

Everyday over last gen consoles , totally worth the pennies even from steam . Blows them outa the water .
I triple dipped and every time have been satisfied

OK so when you've installed the bluetooth adapter you'll need to put the controller in pairing mode by holding the ps and share buttons together until the light bar starts to flash rapidly, then search for it on the PC, pair and you're good to go. Any problems give me shout, but I'm sure you'll work it out.

Just back from town, crazy prices! I will order from the rainforest and save some dosh!

I've got a 7870 and it looks better than the PS4 version for sure, turning up the advanced scaling in the options results in some absolutely stunning detail as far as the eye can see pretty much. Not to mention all the extra effects that the PC version gets. You'll probably have to run with medium textures and a mix of high/very high everything else, but the game still looks fantastic.

My monitor refresh rate is 120 but this game sets it at 119

My monitor refresh rate is 60hz but for some reason the game sets it at 50hz. Tried changing it to 59hz and got lots of stuttering. Changed it back to 50hz and all is fine. Is it possible to change the game setting to 60hz to match the monitor setting?

So is it best to buy from steam directly or can a steam code be had else where? Or are key sites just selling the non steam version?

as far as I know if you want it on Steam you have to buy it directly, otherwise it's via Rockstart. I did not mind paying a little more as I dully intend to Steam Stream it one day, and that process works perfectly, plus I quite like the Steam workshop should mods ever be supported down the road.

I have a 60hz monitor and with vsync on it caps it at 60fps. I know that doesn't help solve your problem though.

A fix for this a few pages back was to ensure your monitor (in Windows control panel) is set to 60. Mine was set to 59.
Sorry that might not be much help having re-read your post.

Probably a stupid question for some, but i've just installed fraps and it seems i'm locked to 30fps, how do i unlock that? (never really mess with gfx stuff).

Is Fraps set to record at 30? I was under the impression that would change to the game to 30 too.

You on Nvidia or AMD?

Good to know! Hopefully nuveem is in stock very soon or I'll just buy tomorrow at £30... :)

Thanks! May just trade my ps4 one for steam credit or something

Still debating if its worth it, i finished on ps3 and am about a 1/3 through on ps4.

Sounds like the pc one is THE version to have, will have a think

Thanks!

God I've got it for the 360 and ive got it for the Xbox one, I've completed the single player on the latter. I'm sorely tempted to buy it for the PC now. Think it would run good on my i5 core 4670 and 7970? I could hook up my PC to my Samsung 40" tv. Although I'm not too bothered about online I'd give it a try. Played nothing that really taxes my card since I got it. Mostly game on the Xbox one now, but I've seen this for £34 + free delivery although I could buy off steam? I also have a ssd to play it off. :)

So I can't seem to get on with the online part. I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to be doing and how I go about buying cars/houses etc.

Am I missing something obvious?

I go to the online part but spend my time trying to kill the other players. Is that the general idea? Ive not played this game on Xbox or PS and haven't played a GTA game since the ps2.

I found a race but I sat on the lobvy screen for like 5 mins and nothing happened.

I'm only level 2 or 3aswell so can't do these heists people go on about.

IT WORKS

Well it crashed once but it works :D

How do you embed a gif?

I would draw the line at idiocy like going the wrong way round the race and doing constant head on collisions; a tactical pit manoeuvre on the other hand... ;)

Yeah I wouldn't do that, although I was mighty tempted to when Josh said, "at least with nexus being at the front, I know I can't get rammed now", you have no idea how tempted I was! :D :p

I must have killed Packie the first time. I did the first tow truck mission, went to the store and he was there robbing it. A pity I had to lose several hours progress, but worth it to have him for heists.

you need to get to level 12. Everything is done from your phone for buying flats and cars.if you want to rank up fast play some death match/ racing. Play your best game mode.
