I need some advice please. I apologise if this has been covered before but I'm about to purchase a 4790k and a Gigabyte Z97 motherboard and want to use triple monitors using the inbuilt gpu without a dedicated card until the next generation amd/nvidia graphics are available. Does the inbuilt gpu support triple monitors? What ports will I need on the motherboard?

Yes you can use three monitors on a Z97 board and that CPU.

The ports you need are the ones your monitors have. Not all Z97 have three outputs etec.

You can mix and match, but some ports have limtaions on resolution etc.

Take this board for example - http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4959#ov

* The DVI-D port does not support D-Sub connection by adapter.
