****Official Project CARS thread****

Yep, you have mechanical failures enabled. You'll blow your engine or it'll expire if abused.

Wheels can come off and you'll maybe get back to the pits. Damage if you have it set to performance effecting and not cosmetic can effect handling..

I'm hopefully hoping they get the pit crews and pit animation completed into a patch for release day.

Wow nice interesting to know :)

just wondering how you would gauge the abuse of the engine in the game is there something to tell you if you are giving it too much abuse ?

I really can't wait for this game.

I want to know more about this private lobby stuff. And whether it'll allow people to create leagues

Yes, it looks like Private Lobbies are an option:

'When it comes to playing online it's always been our goal to provide you with the tools you need to have great games both intimately with friends, through friendly competition with strangers, and in organised groups via competitive play.'

Yes its looking good for MP and leagues. I have started a MP online OCUK Project Cars thread, however I was hoping to manage a OCUK league but I think, and its not maybe the best place to say this but my ex girlfriends dad has around 4 weeks maybe before he passes away meaning as she nurses him at home I've had to look after my daughter a lot more recently, leaving gaming time very random.

I get time to play games, but its not like I can say - 8pm each night Project Cars. Sometimes, I don't get to sit down and play games till gone 10pm.

I'm at work now where I get the best time to browse and post on here...

But, I'll keep the thread going for ad hoc races and leaderboard, but leagues I won't be able to dedicate the time to it sadly. Well not right now.

Sorry to hear about your ex's father but thank you for the thread. I am happy to race online from day 1 (except will be on holiday :( ) but before considering something like a league I would prefer to wait a while and get used to the game, the different cars, learn some of the tracks etc. I assume others will be the same so no need for league chat for a bit anyway.

I think we should give it a few weeks before a league is set up, we'll all be crap at first anyway :p

That way, we'll have a better idea of the number of players, PS4 or XBONE etc.

(everyone buy it on PS4) ;)

This is what i'm hoping for, problem with console games, online dies very quickly. but see how it goes and how many stick with it. First few weeks most will be really getting to grips with handling, modes finding their feet so to speak.

but no harm in the online thread being used to keep all interested gamers of project cars in one place and set up ad hoc races between us all and just have some fun..

And its nice to have other fellow OCUK gamers in your lists to compare lap times.. See how competitive you are against each other..

You are right online usually does die but hopefully we can get a core group of dedicated players together. The more the merrier but even if only 16 people continue to play long term it is enough for a full server :) Judging by the online thread there should, at least to begin with, be a reasonable number and if everyones preferences pans out then a lot of touring car and gt racing.

If numbers really tank though, I will have to consider a cheap GPU off the MM and come join you on PC :)

Edit: All this hype for PCars is not going me any good though. The more the hype builds the more I think, £250 for a T300RS isn't that much haha.

Just been looking on wiki at the Project Cars track list and going on that, here is a mock-up of what the OCUK British Touring Car Series could be like (I'm bored here in the office):

Race 1: Brands Hatch GP
Race 2: Cadwell Park Club
Race 3: Donnington Park National
Race 4: Oulton Park International
Race 5: Silverstone National
Race 6: Brand Hatch Indy
Race 7: Cadwell Park GP
Race 8: Donnington Park GP
Race 9: Oulton Park Island
Race 10: Silverstone International

We could even add international tracks to make it an International Series:

Brno Circuit GP
Spa Francorchamps GP
Circuit Zolder GP
Mazda Raceway (Laguna Seca) GP
Mount Panaorama (Bathurst) Circuit GP
Road America GP
Sonoma Raceway (GP,National or Sport)
Watkins Glenn International (GP or Short)

- 15 Laps per race
- Qualification on
- Pit stops required (1) per race
- Points: 1st place = 10 points, 2nd = 9 down to 10th who gets 1 point
- Fastest lap set in race get's additional 2 points

As always, it'll depends on players numbers and when everyone can get online at the same time but if we can make it happen, it could be lots of fun.

Sounds awesome byeo! Would be well up for something like that. My only issue is if I can be be available at regular times each week.

I know how you feel! So disappointed the logitech wheels aren't supported :(

Of course 250 isn't much lol. Get it purchased..... Or throw another 100 on top and get the T500 RS. That wheel is awesome

Yeah, I'm the same but we don't have to have each race set in stone day/time wise.

Byeo - that is brilliant.. something like that would really work out well. Over on PC they have the gentleman club, its a big online project cars racing league and I think this is how they organise their events

i'll have to have a look and see how they do things, they are very particular though - clean racing and kick anyone that causes crashes through reckless driving. Accidents they accept but just driving full pelt into others or ramming or pushing off track they don't accept.

Also since the hype is getting a little bigger now..

There will be a few issues with the title -

Pitcrew is missing, and I don't know if its being patched in on day one or later
Liveries are mostly fictional. Its a small detail I guess but SMS couldn't get the license
Ferrari is missing - again no license
Handling via a gamepad is fine, but if you've been playing a lot of GT /forza then expect a bit of a learning to get use to it. turn traction control on if you gamepad this title. Until you get used to it, unless you aren't heavy handed.
Performance is not rock solid 60fps, its damn good but rain and a lot of cars sees dips and it can occasionally tear from reports I'm seeing and videos from VVV. Its not GT 5 though, where that had awful performance.
Remember its an indie game, not a big budget title, so formula A is formula 1, they couldn't get the license for formula 1.

So, just to ensure everyone knows that there are a few issues its not perfect but it is a fun core racing title. If you are a racing car fan, I'm sure there is something here for you in this game..

Shush you! I don't need any more temptation!

Having looked at some reviews there is the suggestion the wheel is better on the 300 than the 500. I know they are compatible but shame they don't offer a mix and max option so order the 300 wheel, 3 pedals and shifter instead of having to buy the 300 wheel with 2 pedals then buy the 3 pedals and shifter seperate.

Edit: I thought the T500 came with the shifter but apparently not. £500 for a wheel, 3 pedals and h shifter is a lot! :(

Edit2: I thought you could buy the T500 pedals seperately but apparently not. I need to stop researching this otherwise I will accidently click the buy button.

So, just to ensure everyone knows that there are a few issues its not perfect but it is a fun core racing title. If you are a racing car fan, I'm sure there is something here for you in this game..

Lacking features or missing some details is fine, it is only bugs that kills a game for me.
