So what accessories do you have in your car?

And what would you recommend?

Since I'm picking up my new Kia Rio I'm not sure if it has floor mats so that's the first thing I will be buying!

Might look at a road camera too / for recording / incidents - not that I plan to be in any!

Spare 2 ltr bottle of water has come in handy many times for me. Either for the car or my own consumption. :p

It might sound rubbish, but I added the storage net and bag hooks to the boot of my A4. Really useful for stopping things floating around the boot.

In my boot I also have:

Hi-Vis Vest
Tow Rope
Spare Bulbs
Portable Breathalyser (Continental driving)
Torch
Warning Triangle
Bow Saw & Axe (for dealing with any trees that might block my route)
Shovel
Water

In the front I have a life hammer.

My boot is fully lined and then has one of the rigid rubber inserts on top of the liner - really useful for the dog but also if you tend to carry about stuff that isn't particularly clean etc.

As above the little nets and hooks are actually useful.

I've a flush fit 12v usb, most new cars will have a socket anyway but I find most of them won't charge my z3 whereas the socket will.

Also have one of the little kenu vent mount phone holders which is discreet enough and pretty useful to have. There are some good imitations of it that are much much cheaper too.

I can't remember if the Rio has an armrest but if you spend any length of time in the car its worth considering one

Dash cam, Boot liner, Pencil tyre pressure gauge, Breakdown cover. Check everything regularly so nowadays no need to carry loads of un-needed things.

Where do you live? Seems slightly ott!

All I have is an umbrella.

The most important thing for me is oil in the boot, because my octavia loves to drink it up. 3 weeks ago I bought a 2L bottle thinking that could tide me over until I get rid of the car soon. Last night I emptied the bottle :(

In Back:
Jump Leads
Fire Extinguisher
Tow Rope
Warning Triangle
First Aid Kit
Torch
Glow Sticks
Water Bottle
Yellow Jacket
Breaker Bar
In Front:
Safety Hammer
Sat Nav
Dash Cam

Bit OTT in the back of my car, but they are generally the sort of thing that you can buy once and have in every car after.

My boot is lined with coats, shopping bags and what not cause people are too lazy to open the boot and take them out when they're finished using my car.

water
coolant
oil
phone charger
small air compressor (saved my life once when I had a slow puncture so saved me faffing with the spare wheel)
umbrella
cable ties

In 13 years of driving I don't think I've ever come across an obstruction in the road that would have blocked my way were it not for my trusty axe.

Seems like a few totally pointless things in there, especially the portable breathalyser - the French screwed that up and there is no zero penalty for not having one.
