Have I just lost my dream job?

I got a informal offer for a job last month with a major company and I am just waiting on there he to sort out my contract. The company requires me to drive a works van around south Wales and do tests.

Only issue is I think I just got caught speeding today, was passing through a village. Saw the 60mph sign and speed up 20 to 30 metres to early as the residential stuff had ended and it was just hedges. Only to see a speed camera van sat behind the sign.

I know I should have waited till I was passed the sign before speeding up, I just want your opinions on the idea that I have lost my job?

How fast do you think you were going?

Sneaky place to put a van. Infuriates me seeing these things on the way out of villages when you are past the built up area.

By the time you have gone through doing all the paperwork and they decide to give you points (IF you got caught), you would have probably already started working for that company

I should have said I have a clean licence, I was so careful for the 40 miles 1 covered before hand. I was just frustrated by being held up in the last 2 miles by an old dear doing 10 in the 30.

this is from the job advert regarding licence.
A valid driving licence is essential; the work is not confirmed to base location as it also involves travelling to other sites for both planned and emergency response activities which a job requirement vehicle will be provide

worse thing was I swore bloody murder infront of my missus grandmother....

You might get a speed awareness course if its not to bad. Most companies allow for some points anyway, check terms of your contract when you get it.

+1

They do that all the time here in North Wales too.

Don't break the limit and then you've nothing to worry about. No sympathy for impatient fools.

Unless it stipulates a fully clean licence I would not panic, having a few points on your licence isnt likely to lose you a job if you are the right candidate.

Dont worry too much. Companies who have people driving for them expect their employees to have points as it is almost impossible to not get caught these days! Speed cameras everywhere!!!!

Relax. Dont worry too much

Stupid post!

Almost impossible to keep to the speed limit 24/7!!

Sky monitor the installers on how they drive to peoples premises. :s

One of them told me everything they do is monitored. Even to how hard they brake and accelerate to how long it takes to arrive. As he explained in a sigh shaking his head moment. "I know its unreal"

that could explain why im always stuck behind there vans haha

I don't know how its done but he said all the drivers are monitored in real time. As he's had his boss phoning him up regularly with such incidents. As well as how long they've taken to get the job done on the premises.

We monitor our drivers in real time. It polls every minute but gives us all the info from the previous minute.

One thing to watch if you've been caught near the sign is where does the actual limit change. I'm sure I read somewhere that someone has got off because the actual limit sign was further down the road than where they had applied the limit change.

Not sure whereabouts in the council records you'd have to check though.
