****The Official The Avengers: Age of Ultron Thread ****

Decent film much but preferred the first one which I've probably watched 5-6 times.

Too much forced comedy, hawkeye and black widow grinding on me a bit given they are unpowered yet somehow manage to engage in fights where the hulk and Thor are struggling. Ultron, unlike in the trailers, isn't very menacing. Quicksilver tearing through metal robots like butter even though all he can do is move fast, too many instances that were just off. Like really, even in a marvel powered world.

Saw it today, was okay and that was about it, some of the CGI was downright bad, the 3d cheese was awful, some of the ultron stuff was really poorly explained and it just felt like it was trying really hard to be better than Assemble and failing miserably.

Also saw the trailer for Antman, looked bloody awful, I think Marvel is starting to lose it :/

6/10 hasn't got the same spark Avengers Assemble had, Ultron itself is underpowered. way too much "oh I'm a super hero, woe is me" type angst in any back story / character development.

Same story re hashed

Bad guy - taken down almost to the point of destruction but not quite.

Bad guy returns with reinforcements - almost beats Avengers.

Avengers unite mightily and smash bad guy.

rinse and repeat

I have no problem of it being formulaic, all rom coms are stuck to a formula for example but it's how they execute it.

My take are...
1 - What on earth was Stark thinking that he can create AI using a template from an Alien source that he knows nothing about.
2 - I watched it in 2D, some of the effects was just idiotic. Iron man and his drones are supposed to be the same material and designs right? Same as Ultron himself. Then why on earth can Ironman take a beating like nothing else but the drones can only need a swing and they explodes?
3 - The whole nightmares side of the story took up too much time.
4 - The new Jarvis in human form aka Vison looks silly and is it basically like Superman ?
5 - Why didn't Quicksilver move Hawkeye and the little boy out of the way instead of standing there? He moved hundreds of others out of the way of the moving train earlier.
6 - Ultron's end game was lame.
7 - Need more Scarlet Witch.
8 - Hulkbuster was cool and the best part
9 - The relationship between Black Widow and the Hulk seems off, and unnecessary
10 - Some of the worst CGI in places I've seen in a A-list blockbuster in a while. It was just too extreme and over the top at times as well.
11 - Thin plot and unoriginal. Why on earth would Ultron want to fight the Avengers in physical form is beyond me, the guy is AI...basically indestructible !

Essentially it was way too many characters to juggle, I thought the Winter Solider was a better constructed and coherent movie than this.

What the heck is the vision doing with the Soul Gem and how is this supposed to play out with the assumed introduction of Adam Warlock? Adam being the keeper/recipient of the Soul Gem?

Was it confirmed to be the soul gem? I would have thought Loki's scepter contained the mind gem tbh

From what I remember it was mentioned the gem was the mind gem just as Vision was born. Unless of course the soul gem is the mind gem :D

I think people are trying too hard to pick fault in what should be 2 and a half hours of action and humour and magical super hero's laying the smackdown on a bunch of evil robots.

I think it was great. It wasn't predictable (I really thought they were lining Hawkeye up to die) and made me laugh.

All I would say is that Ultron was cracking a few too many jokes. I think he would have been better as a cold, clinical robot.

Ultron was a bit crappy but other than that I loved the film. Hulk and Thor beating the crap out of things is always going to be good for me!

I enjoyed the film but I don't feel it was upto some of the others. It was a bit like Guardians of the Galaxy for me something I enjoyed at the time but most likely would watch once again at most and I suspect it won't age as well or have the replayability of the first one.

They just seemed to have to many plot threads and did none of them real justice.

I thought it was ok. Just ok. Not as good as the first one.

One of the trailers at the cinema was for the fantastic four reboot, which I thought looked awful. Equally I think Antman looks awful. I must admit that I did wonder if Marvel have peaked and are now going to begin to slide.

Saw this at the cinema last night.

Firstly I would say I enjoyed it. Great fight scenes and new fantasy crush for The Scarlet Witch :D

I didn't like the way they did Ultron. The odd bad guy wise crack is great but there were a few too many and it took away from any sense of menace that such a character should have. The Avengers interacting with themselves still works well. Oh, and Visions costume looks like it needed toning down a bit.

Its not up there with the first Avengers film and to be honest falls short of the second Captain America and Guardians of the Galaxy films (the last 2 Marvel films I watched(I think)), but overall I left the cinema feeling happy to have parted with the money to watch it :)

Fantastic Four is not Marvel Studios. Ant Man I'll wait and see.

I watched it on Saturday night and enjoyed it. I thought the banter and wise cracks between the main characters was as good as ever, but I do agree that Ultron had a few too many humorous moments, I would have preferred him to be a bit more cold and calculating.

I wouldn't say it was as good as the first Avengers film, or GotG (my favourite Marvel film), but it certainly didn't disappoint.

Disappointed, it's a decent film but got caught up in the hype and I much prefer the first film. I wasn't a fan of Ultron either.

Overall a really good movie but yeah not as good as the first. The individual battle scenes are much, much better though (You'll know which one I mean when you see it) it's just the overarching movie feels like the second movie in a trilogy and suffers a bit as a result. It's a setup for Thanos and Civil War it feels like.

Still awesome though, lot's of fun. If you go in expecting a masterwork of character progression and storytelling you'll be disappointed, obviously, since that is not what this movie is, wants or pretends to be.

I watched at IMAX Waterloo today. Thoroughly enjoyed it as a good action sci-fi flick.

Only part I thought could have been handled better was the assembling of The Avengers rather than diving straight into some action going after the Loki's staff that we (as the audience) didn't know was missing in the first place, there should have been some attempt to having to gather/find them. In fact I thought the story line (after Iron Man 3 and the fall of Shield to Hydra) would have been Stark attempting to create Ultron due to Potts wanting him to give up Iron Man. Him failing and then having to Assemble the Avengers team himself.

Also got to see my name in the credits :p

Totally forgettable experience for me. I only just remembered that I saw it on Saturday after seeing this thread.

All that I remember from it now was that my arse was going numb and I yawned a lot. Few good laughs, but aside from that I much prefer the stand alone stuff.
