Struck by the sheer amount of beggers

Why do you assume that because they needed money they weren't legitimate? Many, probably most, homeless shelters charge their patrons.

Because they were actually asking for money to buy themselves a hot dinner. Same guys all the time, there all night, but not there during the day.

There's a really simple way to weed out the genuine. Offer them food instead of money.

Because genuinely homeless people only need food and don't need any of the other things that you can buy with money like, say, a bed for the night with heating and a roof over their heads or clothes or shoes or...

All of which can be gifted without giving cash that can be used to fund a substance abuse problem and not abused by professional beggars.

Last time I was in London there were a couple on the Kings road, sat a few shops apart. They were almost carbon copies of each other, dirty clothes, bare feet, moaning and groaning and holding their hands out. Their shoes were on the floor behind them.
It might have worked but I actually saw them being dropped off earlier...
I bought a sandwich for a Big Issue seller instead.

That is true but that's not what you said. You said that you could find out whether they were genuine if they accepted food. In fact, of course, beggars - like everyone else - need money to live. Some will spend that money on things like alcohol or drugs (but, frankly, I'd rather they spent money on that than stole for it which is typically the alternative) and there is a credible argument that giving money to charities that help the homeless can be more effective but, again, that's not what you said.

There's a service road for a supermarket that has 5-10 coaches arrive from Romania every weekend, always unloading people and big bags of their possessions, always leave empty.

Not next week.

My brother in law, and his Romanian wife are moving back to Romania. They are filling up that bus with all their stuff, and flying back.

They got married there, in Bucharest, where she is from. We went over, and I didn't like the place one bit. The locals were proper ignorant. Similar to my experience of most Eastern European cities to be fair. Certainly not a friendly place IMO.

Anyway, work has dried up for them here, so they are moving back over there. Certainly for the foreseeable future at least.

That's 2 less Romanians in the country though. They also have a Romanian born child here, so Farage can breath a small sigh of relief. At least some are going home.

Having been working in Manchester the last weeks and I was too surprised by the number off beggars, and i'm from Birmingham.

Working where I do, I know that all the "homeless" beggars that sit around the streets of Banbury are a) not homelesss and b) polysubstance abusers.

Romanian ones everywhere in London. Always seem to be crippled in some way as well but I'm pretty sure they are acting to try for sympathy.

Usually walking down the street with an extreme limp, then they stop, make a loud groaning noise followed by holding a cup towards you

Enriching I think the word of choice is.

Dont give any one any money and the begging problem will disappear overnight. I will never give any money to charity, beggers and buskers.

They are everywhere round here, thing is... they have council flats and make a living by sitting on the high street in town centres looking sorry for them selves, and most of the time they have a dog with them for added sympathy effect.

What they are really doing is sitting on their **** all day so they can fund their drinking/smack habit (which you see the same people later on around town doing this in the street) instead of trying to get rehabilitated and into work.

These people DO NOT want help, they continue to drain society and cause problems. (ok a few maybe want help and don't know where to turn so I am not putting them all in the same boat)

Stickin' it to the man eh?

You go girl.

To be honest, when the result is gross negligence in terms of charities, to paying for criminal's lifestyle's/acts with certain beggers.

Sometimes one must be cautious to start throwing some as valuable as money without rational thought.

Buskers though...i dunno, hipster movement? :p
