So the other halfs car was hit while she was at work the other day.

Dont have CCTV of the incident that were aware of, but they have CCTV of the woman returning to her vehicle. Security placed a sign on her windscreen asking her to contact them but she just removed it and discarded it before driving off.

Police didnt seem to interested and were asking other half to attend the police station with her documents which i didnt think sounded right to me.

Thought they are supposed to go round to registered keepers address for leaving scene of accident?

If this was you how would you deal with it?

Wonder why they kept accelerating down the side of the car once it was clear it was going to hit, because that's a pretty long line. Has it actually taken the paint off? After someone scraped me before, I found most of it came out after a lot of polishing and a dead arm.

Why not do what the police have asked

As they were making out it was required she did it within 24 hours which was impossible as she was at work and it happened the day before

I thought it was the person who caused the accident/damage who were supposed to report it not the victim!

hi

it's standard procedure to take documents down when reporting a accident same thing happened to me car crashed into when parked, i believe the other party has 24 hours to report it in these cases that's what police woman told me after that will have committed a traffic offense.

they never did but i was lucky someone witnessed accident. just go down to station they will chase it up if you have reg number ect..

I suspect most of it will come off but its dented the door slightly

But they're evidently not going to do that otherwise they'd have made effort to leave details at the scene.

Nobody was injured, it was in a car park and damage is fairly minimal. Go to the police station, take the requested documents and the photos, report the incident and it'll be dealt with appropriately.

Go to station with docs and report fail to report. The rk of the offending vehicle will be asked to state driver and they will sort the rest

The police will deal with a failure to report, but it's your insurance that will take the number plates and photos and contact the other party for damages/costs. They can take the number plate, find out the name of the owner, whether they are insured, what address the car is registered at, etc. in a few seconds and then make a claim on your behalf to the other person's insurance company.

After work, lunchtime, before work?

Just do what they asked.

Some people are just selfish ***** who care little for others property

This.

People just don't care. I hate it when I see people do this. They try to swing their car into a parking space in one turn. And get so close to the other persons door, sometimes getting it wrong and scraping the other persons car (as the OP has found out). I never understand why people don't just reverse a couple of foot, then go into the space again.

People just seem to dismiss it as "oh well, it's just a parking scrape - everyone gets them eventually" as if it absolves them of responsibility.

This and the fact that, in general, people have such a low skill ability at parking. I hate to say it, but it is often females who fail miserably at parking.

Pretty much, lost count of how many parking scrapes I picked up in this car without even an apology note. I do drive myself a cheap runabout so I don't even care but it's just taking the biscuit when someone forgets they parked in gear and then go in the back of you in a Morrisons car park as you're eating your lunch and just keep on driving :D

Ironic then that the OP's car has parked in the same manner as the car that struck it judging by the turned wheels and squint position. Karma in action?

Seems ok to me, within the bay. Would just have straightened the wheels but not an issue.

The size of the space is huge as well, how do you manage to hit the next car THAT badly ??

Hard to tell for sure but it looks like they may have rubbed the front tyre of the Fiesta too, there's an odd patch that looks about the same height as the scratch along the side. Probably not very sensible leaving your wheels at that angle in a parking space though.

Peugeot drivers :(.

I've had the same happen to my Volvo 5 years ago, was really annoyed. Why are the police not interested ? Clearly a case of driving away from an accident, which is a crime. Useless *****, seems the UK police is just as rubbish as over here.
Hopefully most of it will polish out though! If it's not gone through your paint!
