Nexus 5 2015 refresh

The N5 has been by far, the best smartphone I've had, including iphones, samsungs etc...

Hope it is refreshed.

Same.

Right now I'm looking for any excuse to buy something new. A bigger battery in a smaller phone would be ideal for me. Basically a Nexus with ~Z3 compact specs.

I hope we see one! As nice as the gs 6 is, there is no way I could go back to a non-nexus device.

Love my n5 still and would have been tempted by the n6 but it was just too big and too expensive.

What I would want to see:

- camera as good as the gs 6
- 5-5.2" oled 1080P screen, none of this overkill resolution crap please
- front facing stereo speakers
- more premium build
- <£400

Happy with the cpu, gpu and ram of the current n5 (still just as fast and smooth as any of the new flagships) so would prefer to keep them the same as the n5 or even just slightly upgraded in order to keep the cost down.

If it is by LG, chances are it will be another LCD screen though :(

Damn! Amazing price and very tempted! (I would sell both my n7 2013 and n5 so it would be stupidly cheap)

Only issue left now is the size :( Do you not find the n6 too big for every day usage?

I will kid you not, I was never a fan of big phones like the Note series. What turned me was the fact that the Nexus 6 has a fantastic hardware combination that may not be repeated, i.e. the stereo FF speakers, OLED, lovely Moto build.

Top that off with stock Android , it made it very easy for me to get used to the size. And it's surprisingly pocketable, weight isn't issue, it feels nicely balanced. And at that price you won't be losing out. HTH.

Just measured the size of the n6 against my n5, nope, it is definitely going to be too big for my girly hands :o :p :( Why couldn't they have just gone with a 5.5" screen!?

But yeah, I really feel like I should just go ahead with that, as you said, the hardware and software combination + price is spot on.

You really need to spend time with it and then you'll get used to it and forget the size. That's what happened to me anyway. You can pop in back on the MM with minimal loss.

Yeah I suppose and it will probably be a case of once you go big, you won't want to go back to anything smaller :p

The other main concern for me is my coats pockets, all the pockets are pretty small/shallow and knowing my luck the n6 would fall out.

Needs a higher capacity battery. That's the thing the N4 and N5 seriously lacked.

The Nexus 5 battery is OK. It's not stellar of course, but it's very usable.

I like the build too. There's nothing that doesn't feel premium to it. There's no shiny metal, but it's what the Galaxy devices pre-S6 should have been (grippy rubbery-plastic rather than the shiny, thin plastic they used).

I agree with the rest of what Nexus18 said though, even if I myself would prefer something 5.5".

Yeah I am happy with the battery life of the n5 too, being able to last 2 days with heavy usage would be nice though. As long as I place my phone on the charger every night, I have no problems getting through the day with heavy usage (mostly browsing, youtube videos and the other general stuff)

I like the feel of the n5 but sorely miss the metal uni-body of my one s, that felt so damn nice to hold in comparison to the n5 imo but yeah the plastic finish on the n5 is much better than the plastic samsung used for previous galaxy devices.

I totally agree with all the above.

However I remember reading, that supposedly according to Google's own market research they think the ideal size that us consumer want is the current N6 / iphone plus!

Please no.

A new N5 would be my next upgrade.

But they need to sort out the naming scheme. It's confusing!

I'm still yet to see a Nexus 6 for myself. My Nexus 5 needs and upgrade and feels pretty sluggish. I would say the battery life is even worse now its on Lollipop which I thought would be better given the battery performances they added with the new OS.

I'd like to see a Nexus with an LG G2 level of battery life.

Google just needs too sort out the wakelocks really. I did follow some guides a few months back that basically limited it and grouped everything so it was only possible to wake it once ever 4 mins if it was asleep and get everything done, then group it again. The worse thing is googles location service that pings ever min.

My battery on my Nexus 5 was great with it, solid 4hours+ SOT with pretty heavy usage. A bigger battery would have easily pushed it too 6hours~.
