Neighbour parking obstruction help.

Hey
I'm having issues with my new neighbors parking very close to my car. It's causing me problems with reversing out/turning and getting passengers out safely.
I also live on a very busy road where people ignore the speed limits.

Basically I paid a lot of money to have my drive put in by the council years ago. The drive was built between a grass patch and a public footpath that has another grass patch after.

My new neighbors are now parking on half on public footpath and half on grass leaving sometimes just a foot between my car on my passengers side.

Now there are a few problems this is causing and I will list them:
1 - When I reverse out of my home drive onto my outer drive to pull on to the road, his car blocks my line of sight when it comes to looking for pedestrians on the footpath as well as incoming cars.

2 - When reversing to try and join the road his car is blocking my turning circle if I'm trying to reverse full right lock on the wheel. Making me have to perform a minor 3 point turn just to pull off my drive safely.

3 - The only way I can let my passengers out because of how small my home drive is by letting them out on the outer drive. But with his car sometimes only leaving a foot between this has caused an issue. It's come to the point where I might have to let passengers out either on the road or over the road... Which I shouldn't have to as that is what the drive I payed for.

His car just become a major problem and it's making me feel unsafe reversing.
I would reverse onto my drive but I will obstruct traffic on the main road and it is just not practical because of the home drive. But I shouldn't have to change how I park at my home after doing it for 7 years now with no issues until now.
I leave my car on the outer drive too during the day because I tend to travel a lot and at night I park it on the home drive for safety.
I also clean my car with a pressure washer so it's going to be tight to clean with the space he leaves. His car is also going to get soaked.

Is he even allowed to park on a path or grass? The public footpath is there for a reason but he is obstructing it now so no one can use it.

I just need some help and advice because this is stressing me out everyday to the point where I cannot sleep well as the council says they can't do a thing and they don't seem to be the nicest family due to the arguments and shouting I hear. I have no idea where to go.

Have you actually asked them if they can park a little bit further over because you can't reverse out of your driveway safely?

If not, why have you made this thread?

To be honest I think you're making a bit of a meal out of not being able to get off your drive, to my eye there's enough space to get out of there without issue. As you say, you could also just reverse on and have no issues at all and not feel unsafe/stressed.

As for parking on the grass, it's down to local byelaws iirc and it's for the council to enforce, but they're not causing any greater obstruction than you leaving your car out.

It's a minor irritance at best.

Also this. Go a bit further over on your concrete run-up before you try to turn.

Looks like plenty of room to me? Why do you let your passengers out before getting into your drive? And why go so close to them to make your turn when there is a couple feet of drive on the other side?

Next time it rains heavily, pop some football boots on and walk up and down the grass patch constantly until it is a mud patch, might be less attractive to park on and if the council raises a fuss point to your pictures and blame your neighbor for driving on the grass :p

OP looks like theres about 3 foot of space on the drivers side of your car as you reverse out, just get over there and there will be tons of space.

Looks like loads of room, the pictures make it look like you have deliberately manoeuvred your car as far to the passenger side as you can to try and make a point, whilst there is a good three foot of space on your drivers side.

This.

Op, you're moaning about nothing.

Got to agree I'm afraid - always better to reverse in anyway, especially if it's a busy road.

However, got to be irritating if you spent a fortune on getting a drive put in and they just do the same thing without paying!

If it is really bothering you to the point of no sleep, your only real recourse is to politely ask them to park a bit further over and a bit further forward to help your visibility. They probably won't be entirely receptive to the idea if you go over with a portfolio of over dramatic photos moaning about they are preventing you driving against the highway code guidance though :p

There looks to be tons of space, lol at the picture of the white seat maneuvered randomly really close to the bmw with unlimited space to the driver side

Btw op you should be reversing in anyway, pulling into that fast road would be much safer forwards, and this would also resolve your issues.
