****Official Project CARS thread****

Yeah. T500rs which I had originally purchased for GT some years back.

The game is bloody difficult lol

The Merceses-Benz SLS AMG GT3 is a lovely car to drive. One thing I have noticed, I drive with the green/red marker on the track and the red braking zones seem to be too long, I usually end up having to brake a second or two after the start of the brake zone.

Maybe I should just remove them all together :p

Finally found out how to turn off traction control.

Girlfriend is on her way.... So have to stop playing now :(

Done a few races online. Won the first one by about 10 seconds, came second in the second one after being last because someone couldn't handle eau rouge and took me out. Was good fun hunting down the others though. Third one I qualified first but made a couple of mistakes then someone decided that 'defending' involved physically running me off a really wide, straight piece of track because I was going to pass them  so came 4th.

Saw a lot of people struggling, twitching all over the place :p

Had a couple of hours just now and wow this is perfect just what I was looking for. Didn't think much of the karts so now racing open wheeled career which is great. I've turned all HUD off and I think the game is amazing to look at from both cockpit and helmet cam. Game is really hard at first but the rewards are there if you practice. Very happy I decided to get this. Will have a go at mp once I've played more of the career.

Why does the view seem to affect the handling?... I'm sure it does not really, but I seem to get far better grip when using the bumper/bonnet cam; maybe it just inspires more confidence, as you can see so much more... I also like the helmet cam, with its selective focus/DOF... this was a view I hated in the preview vids, but in use I really like it.

So... aggression or smoothness for best results?... Sadly I seem to do better being a bit of a git, and blatting my way to higher positions; but it feels very wrong [this is only against AI not online with real opponents]

Hi

I find qualifying to be easier when using the bonnet cam probably because its not a closed in as the cockpit view and you get a wider view.

Smoothness for best results imo and try to hit you apex/corners in the right gear if you using manual transmission.

Played a couple of hours today...

Love this game, love the way it's difficult and non-arcade like. It sorts out the people who know how to or want to drive the car properly from the ones who don't, many lols watching people spin up on the grass trying to get back on the circuit quickly.

Came 2nd out of 16th around that modified Suzuka track in an LMP1 race a few times which was really fun... just drove around Circuit Catalunya after a day driving quick cars.. in a Focus, it was like wading through treacle haha.

One thing I've noticed which throws me a bit sometimes is when the exhaust pops it makes a sound like someones just hit me so I'm rear viewing it and losing a bit of concentration lol. Anyone else had this?

See what is good is good, but you cannot deny this game isn't finished.

I enjoyed a few hours of formula C tonight, the AI held up well in IMOLA and Monza, and it was pretty good at 80% AI - I didn't win either race, came in top 10 both times out or 20 cars but to win I'd have to really up my game.

But you can't deny the UI is messy, lots of features missing and that awful replay performance, fact is, what is good is so good its masking the issues, which is good as otherwise I think this game would be forgot about very quick.

Its not as polished as GT or Forza games. I have however been very impressed with Ps4 gamepad handling. Its actually very good, the PC version oddly doesn't fair so well. You are right, all cars behave so differently.

I'm sure it's already been mentioned but getting held up on a hot lap is very annoying. Although I did a clean sweep in the Clio Cup at Silverstone.

Fastest Practise Lap
Fastest Qualification Lap
Race 1 won (fastest lap)
Race 2 won (fastest lap)

Maybe I need to up the difficulty.

looks like its time for me to sell my g25 and get a new wheel to play this on xbox one.

what's the best wheels nowadays?

Just wondered i've started the career kart racing but i'm getting motion sickness after about 3 laps so can they be skipped

I'm fine with normal cars and tracks

Just raced Monza multiplayer Formula A came third with fastest lap. Pretty happy with that!

Been playing all morning on the open wheel championship. Finished second overall so I am definitely improving. When I started a couldn't get into the top ten now I am getting poles and winning races. Tough game but loving it.

Just select a different tier. I didn't like karting either so went to openwheel which is much more fun.

Enjoyed a few games yesterday, set the fastest time in online qualifying however ended up 4th in the main race. I was blowing people away in qualifying but it goes to show how racing is an entirely different ball game! Really fancy a wheel but not sure I can justify the cost.
