$179m For that!!!!

What shocks me more was that the painting was sold for circa $120 if I recall, and the comission took it to $179m.

I should start an auction house.

Erm, kinda sensible depending on the art work. In terms of the Knight Frank Luxury Investment Index 10 year growth,

Cars - 487%
Art - 252%
Wine - 234%
Stamps - 195% (lol)
Jewellery - 168%
Watches - 68%

If you have $179 million, I don't think you really need a 'good investment', you already have A HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-NINE MILLION DOLLARS.

Give it 2 years and that car one will be 1% I fear...like last time.

Most 'Art' is bought for Tax purposes, big Tax dodges on it.

they do have to agree to allow members of the public appointments to come and view the artwork if they want to keep that status though, you can't just buy a Picasso, have it free of capital gains tax, inheritance tax etc.. and keep it hidden away in a private collection that no one can access
