I don't bench, that's news to me.

Do you buy these cards solely for benching?

I ask because you posted in the Titan X thread the other day how you were planning to keep it for the next three years. :D

Fair enough, must have confused you with the wrong person.

Although you didn't care to respond to my other point which was the same as Tonesters, you can say as much as you like that you don't care about brands but your post and sig history says otherwise.

Yeah I bench, and play latest games. I only posted that cos that other guy said I don't bench lol. But I'm there in the top 10 with 8 Pack :p

Some of the guys on here take offence if you buy from both camps, so I'm always going to ruffle feathers, as their trying to push their own agenda (Shilling) onto me.

Whereas I just want the best.

With regard to keeping the Titan, I do love it. Worries about losing money in the re sale, so was thinking if I keep for a few years at least I'm getting value from it if you know what I mean. I hope we don't see a new £850 price point as standard from now, as I won't be able to keep up.

I'm still not sure if I will sell my TX or just give it to my kids so they can use it for a few years. They are on 1080P so it should be fine, although Witcher 3 is borderline playable @ 1080P / Ultra, but that might be an actual game issue rather than lack of performance on the Titan X.

No worries, yeah I'm up there in the top 10 with 8 Pack mate. I do bench.

Yeah with the cards I do say what I think about both camps, lately Nvidia were extra sleazy imho especially with the 970 stuff. AMD have dropped the ball on drivers etc. This is just I how think it, to me neither company is preferable. I made a thread about lack of choice, if you're really interested in what I think lol >>> http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18672032

Yeah so I just go with whoever has the best harwdare, and do it with more and more resentment recently so as the prices keep rising :p

Fair enough, more power to you.

As for Witcher that's definitely a game optimisation issue. Its not revolutionary in terms of graphics and frankly should be able to be played at 1080p/60fps by GPUs that perform as such in other games relative to consoles.

Back on topic.

How big is “Fiji”?

The Question: How big is Fiji?

The ‘whole package’ of GPU, memory and interposer is much larger than ‘typical’ GPU. It needs more space to accommodate the memory and the GPU, which in a high-end segment needs a lot of space. In this post we will be comparing GPUs only.

In order to answer the main question, we need to consider few things::

Official renders may not actually represent the “Fiji” silicon,
We do not know if the scale is correct,
We do know that HBM module is 5x7mm,
Hawaii GPU has 8 dual-32kb memory controllers (512b), which Fiji does not need
GM200 GPU is around 25x25mm

From a random image and a simple dimension they calculated die size ......

My opinion :

Videocardz passed full retard and went straight to potatoe

Haha.

Part of we was secretly hoping this would come on a die shrink, and that's why it took so long (Don't tell Orangey :)).

It looks like a massive die if this is anywhere near legit, so it must be 28nm. So it does make wander about temps etc, as the 290X with a lot less shaders is really hot. Maybe by having HBM and cooling focusing on the centre temps are better.

Will there be decent air cooled variants of this?

I know you keep pushing this narrative Tonester. I'm pretty open about how I feel about both camps. Your constant trolling is beyond dull. Approaching creepy stalker at this point..

If that helps you sleep at night, will add you to my list of people to stalk. Just a FYI, this is a public forum. I'm not actively looking for yours (or anyone elses) posts, if I see a stupid post I'll respond to it.

I havetoe what's going on and get on with pretty much everyone on these forums but this made me ROFL :D

I've offended his sensibilities, he thinks of me as a troll (which I am) by ironically posting something with the intention of trolling. I also take pride in knowing the vast majority of this forum has utter disdain for my posts.

Boomstick is one of the few in here who has no allegiance to one vendor or another, IMO.

Unlike you Tonester0011, ironically given how you treat Boom.

IMO one can't include the HBM chips as part of the GPU die, whatever way one looks at it they are not, some people will, its almost looks like they ^^^ want to.

The GDD5 interface in Hawaii is huge, its bigger than anyother 28nm GPU.

They don't need that in Fiji and could do away with it, it would bring the 438mm2 die size down about 25%, the power consumption would also come down quite a bit.

They would probably need to grow a HBM Hawaii by about ~25% to accommodate 4096 Shaders.

So it might be about 550mm2 in size with the GDDR5 interface removed, the same size as GK110.
