Ireland votes on gay marriage - why should I care?

Scorza it seems like you refuse to pay attention to anything past your local news-paper and yet you seem to think you have knowledge to argue on matters at world arena level like Ukraine thread.

Lol.

I hope this doesn't break the old- Patrick Fitzgerald and Gerald Fitzpatrick, 'What do you call two gay Irishmen?' Joke? Patrick and Gerald Fitzgerald or Gerald and Patrick Fitzpatrick just isn't funny. But then neither was the original really. I wonder if there will be a 'My Big Fabulous Gay Gypsy Wedding' Series on Channel 4 in the works?

Getting pretty sick of this, it's been the top story all day on BBC, ITV and Channel 4 news. Why? A foreign country is having a referendum on possibly changing their law - whoopee doo. The subject of gay marriage is an interesting one but it's just not relevant to me unless we're talking about changing the law in this country. I guess at the moment I'm moderately in favour of gay marriage, so this isn't about sour grapes from a homophobe.

Two other stories that are more relevant to me that could have been the top story - the Bank of England's plan for a Brexit, accidentally sent to the Guardian lol. Or what about questions for Alistair Carmichael, who leaked the Nicola Sturgeon likes David Cameron paper.

Anyways,

For someone who pays a special interest in Middle Eastern affairs it's very hypocritical and bigoted of you to not pay attention to Ireland.

Yes and those trial occurred 60 years ago, so I really don't think it matters what the trials said. We've moved on a little since they. We also thought it was ok to conscript people and then kill them for not complying...

Why would you base your morality on decisions made before you were even...sorry, forgot who I was talking to.

Nope

The trials argued that abortion was a crime against the unborn child.

The convictions were for forced abortions.

The tribunal neither dismissed the voluntary abortion charges nor gave any indication that voluntary abortion is not an international crime.

It's only by inference that you can conclude that [voluntary] abortion was a crime against the unborn child.

Irish people are white, so he doesn't have much to whinge at them for it about. If they were brown though...

Hopefully Northern Ireland will quickly follow suit and the odious DUP will fold to a referendum.

Then, perhaps, it'll be an issue that deserves scorza's attention. Or by 'country' does he only mean England?
