Whatever music you mosh to, who else thinks that there is nothing like the raw human energy of a good moshpit?

The pure adrenaline everyone has seems to cause no pain similar to the Hulk! Seeing / being in this with hundreds of people is really something to behold.

There seems to be one rule that if anyone gets knocked down you get them back up to their feet - especially in large crowds as it can cause everyone to end up on the floor in a pile. And no actual fighting too

Most recently at Slamdunk festival, Thy Art is Murder (death metal band) played and turned the whole of the main floor into chaos. Other great moshpit bands, at least for me, are Lamb of God, Emmure and Parkway Drive.

Anyone else share this passion of adrenaline fueled chaos?

I love 'moshing', being (IMO) jumping around having fun boisterously in a group.

I hate it when total douchebags deliberate push people around and quasi-fight with people who aren't interested, like "hurrrr this is my concert get out of my way!". I also think pushing people from the back is a sin worthy of permanent gig banishment.

I am more of a filthy old raver to be honest but sharing an experience to (whatever your view is of) great music, with a bunch of like minded idiots is life-affirming and very primal.

Sometimes.

Most of the music I listen to these days you can't really 'mosh' to since I prefer more punk rock than anything else and mosh pits are more fun with heavier bands IMO.

I'm more of a jump up and down screaming lyrics kinda guy :D

can't say I'm into death metal but you'll normally get a couple of circles forming near the front of the stage when the Prodigy play

can be fun, they were at Sziget last summer - main stage area was completely rammed initially and hard to get close to the front... we were disappointed thinking we were missing out stuck at the back.... then they started playing and suddenly streams of people were trying to get well away from the stage - it was then very easy to push through the people heading away from the stage and get to the front - partly because the crowd was going crazy, two huge circles had formed and a whole bunch of people who had crammed into that space earlier decided they definitely didn't want to be that close any longer :)

I went to Slipknot on my own in January and was just on the edge of a big pit and as I was alone crossed it and got 4 or 5 rows from the front (close enough to avoid being flat against some fat blokes backside/railings) and wasn't worried about being separated from anyone so just had a whale of a time :).

I saw SlipKnot recently too and that was on par with Prodigy and a pretty good crowd! Only everyone there was way uglier and smelled :p

I did Prodigy at Ally Pally a couple of weeks ago. Great gig and crowd. There was a bit of moshing but nothing too brutal. It depends on the intensity of the music as to how hard the mosh is I guess.
Yes, using a circke pit to get to the front of the crowd is always a good idea :)

I am more of an old skool raver but I do remember the mosh pit at a Rammstein gig in Berlin being one of the best/wort experiences of my life!

Circle pits are the best

Walls of death are also pretty good. A circle put at leeds fest was crazy a few years ago. I think it was to Gallows, they made everyone leave the tent, run around the outside then cross the front of the tent. Hundreds of people doing this was quite something - like a human stampeed.

Edit - I am also from a rave background (gatecrasher, tidy, sundissential etc) Moshing just feels similar to being on a dancefloor with hundreds of people stomping to hard house. Energy and unison of everyone

I did a circle pit and Dropkick Murphys @ Brixton O2, was brutal.

Was a harsh introduction to the world of a Punk for a few young chaps. Thought they were being clever standing still.

They are fine when done at the right gigs.
Last year some young uns decided to mosh at an ACDC tribute gig to the annoyance of old uns and quite a few fights broke out.

They're good fun until you get some people that don't realise what they're all about and start windmilling, throwing punches, spin kicks etc.

Ninja pits then. Its easy to see when its a moshpit and when its a ninja pit. Again, the type of music usually determines what happens on the floor. I have never seen a whole floor of moshpit with 1 or 2 people thinking they are bruce lee. I have seen a whole floor of people ninja pitting though which is fine.
