There's a reason why Nvidia suddenly dropped the 980 Ti just before the Radeon 3** series launch ;)

It's funny to see people lapping it up and purchasing them though, the smart money is playing the waiting game and seeing what AMD have on the way.

Im starting to think this as well. Nvidia selling off titan X chips that didnt pass QA and labeling them 980TIs which is why performance is the same.

Get them out of the door first or they wont sell when 390x is released.

@ Avenged7Fold

AMD have lost market share because they haven't launched anything new in bloomin ages :D

They've also lost market share with their terrible support, i bet theres loads that have had enough now, and gone Green because it, and will go Green when Fiji hits, as they have lost all faith in AMD, they don't want to be stuck with a potential £700/£800+ card thats got no support, drivers coming on xxxx date, which then comes and goes, drivers coming next week, which then also comes and goes, drivers when ready, drivers coming when AMD are happy with them, drivers not coming until monitors (or whatever are released), everyones confidence in them has just gone, nobody wants to be stuck with an expensive paperweight.

Xfire Freesync drivers were supposed to be April, were now in June with still no sign, they are MIA, with no one knowing when they are coming, Nvidia said a few days ago, they were working on Kepler fixing drivers, and those drivers have now landed!.

Now a man can dream.

But it needs to match 980ti for £350 or beat it soundly for £450.

AMD need to release a leak within the next few days or everyone that was in the market for a card will jump onto the Green Wagon and 980ti up!

@ AMDmatt - Come on. Give us SOMETHING.

Had no issue with drivers for 18 months.
You know how bad Nvidia drivers are and have been for long?

Loads of people going AMD now

Indeed. I certainly wouldn't be buying a 980Ti right now at current prices. The 390X/Fury or whatever it is called could come out and rival/beat it at a much lower price and Nvidia may be forced to lower the 980Ti price within months.

AMD wont leak nada tbh, people that were going to buy the 980ti are going to buy it regardless, those who are waiting for the top end AMD cards will still wait, they have waited long enough and a little while longer wont matter.

Yesterday as the reviews were coming in i thought perhaps NVidia was dealing the knockout blows to AMD and putting the last nails in the coffin, however upon reading lots of articles from review sites stating "Wait for the AMD release" im not so convinced now.

AMD still worries me that they can produce an absolute lemon, one only has to look at Faildozer to see that, however in my mind there is also the thought they could be about to smash Nvidia to bits with the top end Fury card.

Either way im waiting to see what happens, i have the cash to pull the trigger on a 980ti and a Gsync screen right now, but i will wait to see what AMD bring to the table and then decide if i lock myself to AMD or Nvidia for the next few years with a new gpu and monitor :)

I really don't understand what this fuss about support and drivers is all about. For vast majority (excluding small percentage of CFX users) drivers work just as well as Nvidias.

There are driver releases for most major AAA titles on day one (GTA5) or few days later when you're dealing with Nvidia title like W3.

I think a lot of people are blowing AMD's overall support etc. out of proportion lately. Yes the crossfire support has sucked and general communication has been poor for the last 6 months, however:

- single gpu users have had no/little problems with games in the last 6 months except a couple of games (?) i.e. project cars
- crossfire support has been lacking for a handful of games, project cars, TW 3 (both of which are fixed now?), dying light (think this was fixed not long after release?), elite, anything else?
- lack of crossfire freesync support, no excuse for this really, other than AMD are having issues to get it working "well"

Nvidia are far from perfect:

- quite a few users are still getting micro stutter with gsync and SLI
- the last 2 drivers have caused stability issues with crashing
- keplar GPU's not performing as they should for several (?) titles (which is apparently fixed now?)
- with the latest update, apparently 780 owners have noticed an improvement in TW 3 but titan x owners have noticed worse performance

And I'm sure that there must be some games that users have issues with, be it with single or SLI.

I think once AMD get the 390x out things will return to normal or at least speed up, to me it just seems like that and DX 12/windows 10 has been taking up most of their time and money.

I've seen a few "youtubers" missing recently in weekly podcasts - touting being over in Taiwan

is that for the AMD release ?

<EDIT> realised Computex is over there !

This is the most sensible thing to do, Nvidia have already swept up a ton of the impulse buyers with the Titan X and 980 Ti release. Have to wonder how many people will be willing to buy the AMD cards when they finally arrive.

However if your sensible and can wait it's def worth it. Fiji could really surprise us and then the extra few weeks of waiting would have been worth it.

Yep the perception that AMD drivers are rubbish will never leave. AMD have owned having good drivers up until Christmas. People need to go and read the Nvidia driver thread to see how great it is in there. On both sides it gets messy where different games are concerned and for many different reasons. Drivers are complex by the looks of it and most of us will never understand because we don't specialise in doing so.

I have nothing against AMD, have always used their cards, but I doubt I will ever crossfire again, it's too glitchy and poorly supported. If the 390x performs better than my 7990's then I'm upgrading. Quadfire has never worked anyway apart from in useless crap like 3dmark lol

I'm in exactly the same position as you, needing new monitor and GPU, though I also have a clockwork Q6600 to change out. I think the 980ti is the first exciting card in a long time (the flawed but brutal 295x2 at £500 excepted), but I've not done an upgrade in about 5 years, so can wait another few weeks to see what AMD come out with.

I generally root for the underdog so hope AMD nail it with their next round of cards, but let's see what turns up.

Only real big issue I have with AMD drivers is their huge overhead compared to nvidia. Though win10 drivers are giving rather nice boost to this. Currently 20% upgrade over 15.5 drivers, yet still long way to get to nvidia's level.

Anyone buying SLI or Crossfire should know that they're investing in risky area where support isn't always on desired levels.

I hope it does, and i really hope they have a cracker of a card on their hands, but i just can't see it.

Since coming abk to the PC gaming fold 2 years ago i have owned a 660>280x>970

Amd drivers were significantly better in my experience. For single card users,Amd driver support is at least 'decent'.

Nvidia drivers on the other hand have been woefull for me,looking for an excuse to go bak to an AMD card tbh.

980TI is clearly a great card at a very good price(for nvidia :P),but i dont feel the need to upgrade despite the urge.A 390x at £500 around the rumoured specs tho? i'd probily bite.

Its an odd situation, after the end of this month their wont be any proper new GPU's for around a year, maybe longer. So either its upgrade now and get the most outta a new card,or be content with what i have an wait it out till sometime next year.

Hope AMD force my hand :D
