Work for someone you hate?

I'm not being pedantic. Your title said you hate her, the thread suggests you don't, it even suggests you don't know her.

Thus I think it's not particularly mature to adopt your family's fued against another family, with regards to someone who isn't even involved.

My point is that you don't hate her, you don't even know her. So treat her like a regular customer.

Wow, I would be pretty offended if I lost a contract because someone else in your family disliked someone else in my family. That's pretty silly tbh.

You have no evidence whatsoever that the sister is anything like her brothers, or that she would somehow use your working relationship to continue some silly fued. Man up and either take the job offer or drop it. Not even thread worthy.

Exactly! Which is why I've been pushing "why do you hate her?" to get him to realise he doesn't, and isn't really involved in the fued rubbish.

If you can afford to turn it down then do it. You obviously feel strongly enough about it to bother to post a thread, so it's pretty clear that you expect it to be hassle.

Not enough businesses sack terrible clients. I strongly encourage it.

This. A friend told me not long ago that the great thing about being self-employed is you can turn people down if you don't fancy working for them. Something you cannot do in any other line of work.

Hey, I'm self employed too, but the notion of turning work down because they happen to be related to people, who people you're related to don't like, is just mental.

Bottom line, are you going to get paid?

Is it worth the grief?

Are you really going to be willing to take that level of risk?

There isn't a basis to suggest that he won't get paid, and if he think it's an issue then request a deposit.

like I said earlier.

Get an advance in cash before even thinking about it!

Personally I think it is likely to be a set up and I would decline (and, indeed, run away very fast!.)

(I await to be proved wrong!)

I don't really see why anyone is thinking anything. You don't know this guy, the other guy or this woman. There is nothing to suggest it's a set up.

The bottom line is a company has approached the OP and the OP is iffy about doing work for them because of who the company owner is related to.

Realistically, companies aren't going to be playing games like this, it isn't conducive to good business.

If the OP is concerned them obviously get a deposit/advance, then there isn't really much they can do.

DID YOU TOTALLY FAIL TO READ THE OP?

Then when I googled the firm turns out its owned by a family mine hates.

Short version ; Neighbors from hell two brother's completely mad tortured my parents & threatened my Dad, poured paint thinner over car bonnet etc.

Erm

This firm is run by their sister who I've had no dealings with, but call came from employee not herself. So could also be turned away upon arrival also being morally bankrupt could also end up not getting paid.

Really, do not touch!

you show me the part in the OP where he said the sister was a total nightmare and caused them problems?

He didn't, but she is part of the same family.

And the business enquiry is to my mind "Suspicious"

I DO subscribe to Blood being thicker than water so in the OP's position I would regard the Sister as being just as dangerous as the Brothers.

If you want to put everything into the open and make it part of some sort of peace treaty that "might" be a plan (possibly even a good one)

But I am sure that they know exactly who you (OP ) are!

Work on that basis! :/
