Really hate being the first one posting this, but this is a major occasion considering the amount of people it involves.
European forces will now have to constantly patrol the ocean between Europe and Africa if we want to prevent the disaster that happened a few weeks ago.
Now that the immigrants know they will always be successful, how soon will that half a million turn into 2 million etc?
Going to be chaos soon enough

Why are the ships not taking them back? It will just encourage more as you say.

They might do, since it says they're stranded in the mediterranean, but that a **** load of people that need rescuing.
If 800 people died from one boat, without help this could be a major disaster

Should have just torpedo'd the boats, in seriousness. (pref. after/before smuggling occurs)

For everyone involved, it just means worse tidings, how long until we end up having pogroms because the nasties in our own nations see this as an affront? How long until a port or naval vessel is bombed? Once Africa becomes largely uninhabitable (I don't see how climate will get better for them), the flood gates which the EU has humorously creeped open, will never close unless we do it by force.

This Lefty self-imagined utopia needs an epiphany.

If I were Putin, I would be setting something up right now to fling some spies or equipment in these boats.

The EU is weak, stupid and doesn't think hard enough before acting on such a serious matter.

You should save those in immediate danger and then do everything possible to stop any boats leaving Libya, any that do, escort them back.

That's exactly what they should have been doing. Only now, considering how many people it involves, they will actually start tackling the problem of people smuggling. Only now that most of europe's mediterranean fleet is being sent into an urgent situation do they understand how bad it really is. Really took their time

Don't have an issue with them rescuing people, they really do need to step up the efforts being made to rescue people.

I do think they need to be more robust in how they deal with the smugglers themselves - I know the Libyan government protested at the idea but frankly destroying the migrant boats is probably a good idea, rescue the migrants at sea... monitor intercept/blow up the ships/boats originally used to transport them.

Sacred, probably persecuted people in fear of their own and families lives, have a heart OP. It must be madness out there.
