Fryer dangerous?

Poor oil out into a Pyrex dish and see if it's contaminated with water.

Almost certainly isn't dangerous and just water in the oil from something or the other. Deep fat fryers are very excited bubbly things when there's moisture about.

More than likely this, is the oil old? pour it out use fresh oil, if still same, duck and cover.

run an extension lead into the garden and stick your fryer out there. Maybe put it in a steel bin. Sat on paving slabs.

I did this days later with an old CRT monitor I accidentally poured wine over*. It made buzzing noises, but sadly didn't explode. Still, video it just in case. Use the macro mode.

Fryers will kill everyone sooner or later, by either tragic accident or coronaries.

Die old or die happy? :p

* The wine involved may or may not have played a part in the situation.

Fryer update to those who are interested!

Seems my chips were still saturated with water after blanching them. Will try and figure out how to keep said chips dry and tasty. I'm making the chips myself.

Thread was well worth it as I've now discovered the Tefal Actifry.

If you have time, wire rack and in the fridge for an hour or so. Drys them out and get a better result.

If not just let them steam dry for a few mins once you've drained them.
