Graphics Card Advice

Get the 970 and don't buy a new power supply.

If your coming from a 570, the 970 will blow your mind.

Enjoy. :)

Woop woop! Can't wait to get it. Going to check the power cables I have and then order and if needed get the required cables as well! Thanks for all your advice!

The cooler that's slapped on top, the stock clock speeds and warranty dealt with different
companies

Read reviews on both, make your decision.

The most important difference is that the MSI card has a fanless mode. Meaning fans don't spin until the card hits 60 degrees. This can be changed of course. Both of these cards are the quietest 970s by the way, though the MSI can be silent as fans don't spin at low usage/idle. I've heard that the Gigabyte Windforce coolers can be noisy, but not on the 970 since the fans don't run as fast.

The Gigabyte has slightly higher stock clocks but they don't mean much since both cards overclock well (I've seen OC comparisons where the MSI comes out on top, but not by much). The Gigabyte also has a backplate, while the MSI doesn't. A recent to the update to MSI's warranty now covers MSI cards overclocked with MSI Afterburner.
