The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

Im a bit confused now on what to go for a EVGA GeForce GTX 980Ti Superclocked ACX 2.0 or the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980Ti G1 Gaming

Any advice?

The G1 is £20 more and has stronger clocks out the gate and is getting excellent feedback but a very small review pool right now (expect that to change over the next few days). The ACX is doing very well so far in terms of performance/noise/temps review wise and has a larger review pool.

If your issue is 'getting a card' the G1 seems to be sending loads in to arrive next week.

Honestly if you don't have a pre-order in somewhere for the ACX it's starting to seem more and more likely you won't receive anything before the 26th of this month (unless you want to be gouged or buy from out of the country). I've also swapped to the G1 as tired of the EVGA roundabout.

I've changed my order again! I jumped on the G1 after that awesome review yesterday. But I'm gonna wait it out for the MSI gaming like setter. I know they make adjustments based on the GPU so the fan profiles are not all the same. This noise comparison video changed my mind again though.

I still feel the G1 offers one of the best air coolers in terms of thermal performance. Just feel the Twin Frozr has a good balance between decent temps and low noise. Would definitely get the G1 over the ACX though.

I've owned windforce and twin frozr cooled cards. Tbh each are brilliant coolers. The gaming edition is very well priced too fir a non ref model.

I would be temped to do a g1 switch from the hybrid but in sli coolers like that are not great and your better off with reference. This is speaking as a 780 non ti wf3 sli owner.

Very same cards I've switched out for a 980ti. They're not the best though for sli in a tight spaced board if air cooling.

Yep the G1 cooler was the best for me on the 970, so cool and quiet. When I tried out a MSI Gaming 290 I was impressed too. The thing is because the Twin Frozr fans are slightly bigger and there are only two of them, they have a lower rpm. I had the Twin Frozr at 100% on the 290 and it wasn't even that loud lol. 100% is only like 2000 rpm for the Gaming, but 4800+rpm on the reference blower so it varies based on the card.

Got mine under water now.

Having a little play with OCing.

Just set at +250, boosts up to 1490, which gives 8390 Firestrike Ultra score.

That's with no OC on memory.

Want to stick more volts on and up the TDP :D

From what I have seen / read the ACX is about 10c higher than the G1 under load. Why are so many after an ACX when the G1 looks to be the better card?

Yay!

Will take a better picture later but hopefully you can make it out.

The Windforce sounds horrible compared to the reference and ACX. I'm taking about the sound signature not the loudness.

That video made me change from the Windforce to the Gaming now. I still maintain the 980Ti is a higher tdp GPU so the stock fan profile could be very different from the 980s in that video. Just feel the Twin Frozr should be slightly quieter and not too much hotter than the Windforce.

I had a 970 gaming which would hit 71c under load. I think trying to keep the TI's cool with 2 fans is asking a bit much.
