AMD Radeon R9 390X and R9 390 GPUz data leaked

Here are 2 images of my 290 in gpu-z. The first one is stock(Tri-x so 1000mhz) the second is OC'd. Look at the bandwidth and compare it to the 390 image above. It doesn't seem right. What does everyone think? Does having 8GB automatically increase bandwidth?

As far as the rebranding goes, both sides do it.
However AMD have taken it a step further this time.

Nvidia 500 series (new cards, just)
Nvidia 600 series (new cards)
Nvidia 700 series (some rebrands)
Nvidia 900 series (new cards)

AMD 6000 series (new cards)
AMD 7000 series (new cards)
AMD 200 series (some rebrands)
AMD 300 series (some rebrands)

So could the AMD 300 series actually contain some cards from the 7000 series rebranded?

As far as the 290X -> 390X thing goes, reminds me of when AMD introduced the 6000 series after the 5000 series. Top single GPU in the 5000 series was the 5870. 6000 series released with the first cards out being the 6800 cards (I think). These barely matched the 5000 series cards. Then AMD released the 6900 cards, which were the new flagship cards.

If you're buying AMD you need to be prepared for confusing naming conventions.

It is worrying as the 3** should be AMD's bread and butter line up and are really more important than the Fury cards in terms of turning profit IMO as they will not sell as many top tier enthusiast cards as they will mid-high range products.

This all just seems a little strange right now.

And as we have seen, they already have. That poor guy (who i really sympathised with) on that youtube unboxing link was caught out and he won't be alone.

Yeah but tbh that's their own fault for not properly researching or looking at the spec sheet. I fell for the exact same trick back when Nvidia released the 9800GT which was just a faster clocked version of the 8800GT that I had. I bought it thinking it was an upgrade with their new architecture but then after installing it and using it for a day, I finally read a forum post somewhere saying that it was a rebrand, along with most cards in the 9 series. Safe to say, I quickly noped the card out of my system and managed to return it. :p

I definitely deserved it for being a complete idiot and fully trusting Nvidia's naming scheme, but it taught me a lot even with a quite a bit of experience under my belt. Always do your homework.

So we're not getting anything Fury related until the 24th? Daymmmm :(

I'd imagine we'll find out info on the 16th, but I'd be surprised if there's any actual stock to buy (Although I expect pre-orders, possibly)

Although that would be a complete fail, and for me would show AMD's further incompetence.

Imagine how just showing the 3XX would go down? It'd be terrible.

Yeah AMD reveal their cards at E3, then press will get sample and reviews will go live sometime after, with cards being able to be ordered from the 24th?

With the rebranding, it's no different from the 7970 > 280X or GTX 680 > GTX 770, other than AMD have changed their naming scheme. Anyone with half a brain realizes that the 390X isn't the flagship.

290X
290
280X

Fiji Fury
Fiji Pro
390X

Really not a big deal. Just need to wait for the whole stack to launch and pricing.

People are going to buy a 390x assuming it's the flagship.
That's what is going to annoy me.

AMD are going to unveil things, benchmarks will be done.

Anyone getting burned buying something in 2015 that they didn't do a quick google search on before hand gets no sympathy from me. Especially in this area of interest. If you're interested enough to go for the smaller fish in AMD then you should be intelligent enough to check things out first.

If AMD are dumb enough to literally just put a 3 on the box instead of a 2 and maybe ship out some 8GB options, then the reviewers need to blow up about it and make it known, but most won't.

That said, I don't believe that GPUz thing one iota.

No, but having higher clocked memory does.

i dont feel sorry for anyone who buys a 390x thinking its flagship. because either they didn't wait for reviews and benchmarks or didn't take the time to look for any. Same goes for the fury if anyone buys straight away and ends up being under par of a 980ti with a similar price!

New releases are so exciting these days. A re-release of a nearly two year old card at a higher price point than it is now with 4gb of vram you will Likely never use unless you xfire them

Apparently the EU Prices for the 300 series has come out.
