Wonder what this does to your body in medical sense in short term. Must drop weight surely?
Could it actually be beneficial? (and not just to the larger audience)!

What would happen in terms of repercussions of you for what ever reason didn't manage it?
 
Well done guys, I'm not religious in the slightest, but admire this sort of thing that people believe in. If it makes the world a better place brilliant.

closed around 1:15am here, although it's 1:21 for my postcode using 18 degrees for Fajr entry. Prayer in masjid was at 1:45, have to be up at 6:15 today, usually 7:10 for 8 start.

I'm on half days throughout ramadhan, finish before midday, so makes it easier, alhamdulillah

There are a number of scientists who have come forward and promoted fasting as it can do wonders for the body. Too esrly/late (I don't even know) to find one now, will try later.
Fast for us closes at 2:42 and opens at 9:27.
That makes it breakfast time for me now!

Never, been fasting since I was 10 years old or younger. It would be a weakness of faith if one was to deliberately break their fast. Refraining from eating and drinking is only a condition of fasting not its purpose.

Entire of Islam is based upon belief in the unseen. We submit to the command of Allah. With respect to refraining from food and drink He is Aware of our needs what we can manage since He created us. Yes it is a challenge on some days, but never to a degree that you start contemplating deliberately breaking it. When it comes to breaking the fast we don't consider it a virtue to say I'll hold out for another 10-30 minutes and gain more reward, it would actually lessen the reward. The virtue lies in submission to the command, not your desires.

There is immense enjoyment in a fast on long hot days, yes sleep is permissible and advised for purpose of refreshing your body. Deliberately tiring yourself out beyond your personal capacity and making it more hard on yourself is not the objective as it would ultimately drain you mentally and physically and hard to maintain clarity of mind to focus on worship.

It's highly virtuous and emphasised to engage in acts of worship such as recitation of the Quran throughout the day.

Ramadhan is the month in which its revelation was initiated and is therefore recited to completion, over 25-29 nights, in the additional congregational night prayer, known as tarawih.

2 glasses of water, a few dates and a banana later I'm stuffed! Just prayed (do you pray fajr in the masjid?) and ready to sleep now for a 6am wake up, 7am walk to work, 8:30 start!
Be good to see how you guys get on! Best wishes my brothers (and sisters?) :D

Its 24h sunlight here now.

My Muslim class mates fast for 22h a day. Crazy! I couldn't do it.

Yes, in Ramadhan I always aim to attend congregational prayers in masjid. Otherwise don't feel any fulfillment.
 
Ramadhan Mubarak
We are happy to confirm that the first night of Taraweeh will be on Wednesday 17th June; Isha and Taraweeh prayers will commence at 11:15pm Insha'Allah.

The first day of Ramadhan (fasting) will be on Thursday 18th June.

Mosque Etiquettes
1. Please come on time.
2. Please park appropriately (see below)
3. Please come with clean socks or remove socks. Smelly socks are very uncomfortable for people praying behind you.
4. Please abstain from smoking before coming to the mosque. Standing next to someone who reeks of tobacco smoke also causes discomfort to those standing beside you.
5. Please leave the mosque quietly and avoid talking outside/slamming doore etc. - it can be disruptive for our neighbours - Remember, most of the neighbours will be asleep.
6. Please do not loiter outside the mosque...The brothers who are responsible for locking up need to get home as well.

Parking
Please can we remind all our brothers and sisters to please ensure they park appropriately when attending the Mosque.
We know that Ramadhan is a busy time and parking is at a premium, but we humbly ask that you park correctly and avoid causing any inconvenience to neighbours and other road users. Please do not block any driveways.
Additional parking is available at the Lakeland Car park for use for TARAWEEH ONLY (NOT for jummua...misuse may cause withdrawal of ALL permission). This car park is situated very near by - if you turn left out of the mosque this car park is 200 yards on the right hand side past the pub and our parking attendant will be on site for security.
This car parking is better for those Musaleen that wish to leave early. Please ensure that you leave the car park clean, apparently last year we had people leaving their rubbish after a late night feast.
If possible, please try and car share with a neighbour, friend or family to reduce traffic and congestion.

By far the majority of the worshipers at the Masjid park very considerately but please may we remind the small minority that do not, that this reflects very badly on the Masjid and the community.

We have additional parking attendants and volunteers for Ramadhan, please can we ask that you listen to them and park as they suggest. Jazaka'Allah Khairan.


Burglaries & Security
The police have informed us of the increased number of burglaries and jewelry thefts that tend to occur in Ramadhan.

While the police are doing everything they can to deal with such crime, please can we suggest that you take extra security precautions during Ramadhan - keeping lights on in the house, keeping a car on the drive, locking all doors and windows securely, looking out for each other and reporting any suspicious activity.

Please also ensure valuables are locked away or in a safe deposit box if possible.

yeah, don't you come to the Mosque eating so much curry that when it's time to pray you burp and bellow so much that the guy next to you can smell your belch. It's disgusting. :p

There's been some studies that have took place last few years and fasting has a lot of health benefits.

There was a documentary on it by Michael Mosley.
