Another US shooting: 9 dead in SC church

What's needed are guns in churches. Priests, Pastors and Padres need to be armed to prevent things like this happening.

Wondering if suspect will be taken alive or shot 23,000 times by whole of police force.

I can just see a gospel choir singing away, firing off the odd shot for effect.

I've never understood "hate crime". If someone has murdered a bunch of people, why does it matter that it was done over race or sexual orientation, rather than over something equally petty?

Motivation is relevant in court. Particularly when mitigation is sought.

12 More have been killed, 34 injured and 89 are in custody after the US Police turned up and started questioning the congregation.

Another terrible act, so much carnage for no reason, not that there is or ever was a reason for anything like this to happen.

Gun's don't kill people, people kill people (with guns far easier than without)

Should we ban people?

That's not going to work.

Ban guns?

Won't happen in the USA.

The people of the USA will not for the foreseeable future; if ever, accept a ban on on guns.

No amount of education, training, vetting of owners or prospective owners can ever make the human element in this equation 100% safe in thought and deed.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Someone told me that he gave his life up for my sins......quite what my sins are is anyones guess

anyway, this shooting wouldn't have happened if everyone in the church was armed

they should install an automatic system whereby if a camera detects the presents of a firearm, it triggers the system to deploy

Every day American's bring closer their total loss of personal liberty with ******** like this, at some point they will be policed by drones with an iron fist from private police forces who make profit from even the slightest infraction.

They won't realise just what they have until it's truly too late.

"Guns are our right under the second amendment! You can't change the constitution!"

Ok, lets talk about the word amendment....

Saw a headline, didn't read the article, apparently the USA is number 1 in terms of firearms ownership yet not in the top hundred for murder rate if true it can't be as bad as spin makes it seem. Those figures probably don't count the thousands killed every year by police or prison guards as that isn't murder.

Guns are so symbolic to America, to take them away would be like ripping it's heart out. You would go against the dna of American values such as freedom, liberty, equality and individualism. It's still all about the vision of the founding fathers and I can't ever see that changing. I see these core values as flawed, America in some senses has spent 300 years reinventing the wheel, initially they wanted to get as far from the British way of doing things as possible but they seem to have come round in a circle. Apart from guns that is, and the odd war or two.

Well, USA has by far the highest gun homicide rate (per 100,000) of any rich developed country.

It's outside the top 100 for rate (per 100,000) of overall homicides , but again is the highest of all developed countries. Almost 5 times UK's rate.
