Finding it on YouTube for the most part is no different to just downloading it.
I am so scared the police might come knocking at my door, ignore and carry on with life.
I have always moved over my favorite music to my pc to listen to instead of pulling out the mass of cd's looking for the right tune and now that's illegal!
It's not illegal, it is unlawful.and now that's illegal!

They are 2 very different things, but are commonly mistaken as the same thing by the average Joe.
Where is there logic in this? Where is there proof that it would cause financial harm to there industry
What's the difference?
That's the difference between criminal and civil illegality.IIRC Illegal means the police will come after you for it, unlawful means the police won't usually get involved however the victims can still seek remuneration from you through the courts.
How many of us will listen to the ruling and how many of us will carry on as before....
You do know that Google/Youtube has licensing agreements in place, right?
That's the difference between criminal and civil illegality.

I wonder how many palms were greased for that ********.
I like that it's now both on legal and evolutionary matters you can post an informed opinion and have it ignored. I admire the persistence though, have you always thought of yourself as a masochist?![]()
Illegal has no connotations, it simply means it's against the law.:_S
As for illegal and unlawful, there is a bit of an overlap in my mind. Illegal has strong conotations of criminality, but could merely refer to a breach of rights imposed by the state (even civil rights). Unlawful means acting in a manner in breach of another's rights, including rights imposed by the state. In my choose of language, I only use illegal when there are actions that could invoke criminal penalties. So before the 2014 amendments discussed in my original post, ripping CDs (in a personal, non profiteering sense) would be properly described as unlawful.
